Amber Heard testifies to being ‘cut’ from Aquaman 2 during defamation trial
Actress Amber Heard testifies in court that the defamation trial might cost her Aquaman 2.
While Johnny Depp is getting a lot of social media support from fans, Amber Heard’s every move is being turned into a meme. Aquaman Actress Amber Heard, who plays the role of Mera, tells the court that her professional life is getting affected due to the $50 million defamation trial. She even reveals that her professional partnership with major conglomerates like Warner Bros. and L’Oreal has taken a turn for the worse.
While Amber Heard is still on trial with her ex-husband Johnny Depp and Captain Jack Sparrow, there have been revelations about their personal and professional lives. When she took the stand on Monday, Actress Amber Heard revealed that she is in doubt whether she is in the ‘final cut’ of the movie Aquaman 2, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Heard’s role in the franchise began in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and the continuation of her role can be seen in the solo film directed by James Wan. Although her role was essential in the first Aquaman movie that premiered in 2018, she still fears that her part might get cut as she got released from the contract with Warner Bros.
Amber Heard is the acting co-lead opposite Jason Momoa, who plays the role of the mighty Aquaman.
Amber Heard revealed more information about her role in Aquaman 2 (says CBS News). Quoting her trial statement, “They released me from my contract. And, I fought to stay in it, and they kept me in it; I just don’t know how much I’m in, actually, of the final cut.”
I Heard she gave more details about her ‘actual’ presence in Aquaman 2. According to Amber Heard, she is perplexed about her screen time in the sequel. She said in the courtroom, “I don’t know if I will even be in the final cut or how much I will be. It was difficult to stay in the movie.”
Although the Aquaman 2 producers have clearly stated that Amber Heard is in the sequel, it was never in question. Her doubt stands different from the producers’ statement. Heard is acquiring the production team because she received different scripts with her role cut short in each, and that continued to scale back her role in Aquaman 2.
Basic information of the trial-
Johnny Depp is suing Amber Heard for $50 million over a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she claimed to be a domestic abuse survivor. Heard, however, did not name Depp by name, but the circumstances were too obvious.
This statement of Amber Heard led to a rocky road for Johnny Depp in his professional life; he lost Pirates of the Caribbean Sea and multiple brands he was the ambassador for. As a result, he sued Amber Heard, to which she countersued him for $100 million.
In her testimony, she now accused Johnny Depp of ruining her career in Hollywood after filing for a restraining order against him in 2016. Heard also claimed that she is in deep doubt about her role as Mera in Aquaman after filing a restraining order.
While both sides are fighting a literal battle against each other, Johnny and Amber continue to testify against each other. During cross-questioning by Depp’s Lawyer Camille Vazquez, Amber Heard was asked if she agreed to the statement that Depp got her that role in Aquaman. She responded defensively, saying, “no, Miss Vazquez, I got myself that role by auditioning.”
According to sources, the trial is in its final week, and it is being live-streamed on YouTube. While the trial itself is very gripping, fans across the globe are sitting on the edge of their seats in curiosity to know the final judgment. It will be a mystery to know what happens to Mera’s role in Aquaman 2 and the contract. For now, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will release on March 17th, 2023.
