The Witcher: Anya Chalotra, Yennefer Reads a Part from Blood of Elves
The Witcher Season 2 includes a scene where Yennefer of Vengerberg recites a section from the first/third witcher book ‘Blood of Elves.
The Witcher Series on Netflix, recently released its season 2, is based on Andrzej Sapkowski novels and CD Projekt’s Video Games. The most popular and in-demand series is The Witcher nowadays.
The Witcher Season 1 adapted from Andrzej’s books named ‘The Last Wish’ and ‘Sword of Destiny.’ Season 1 entails different timelines of the main characters: Geralt of Rivia, a witcher, Yennefer of Vengerberg, sorcerers, and Princess Cirilla of Cintra, Ciri.
Season 1 is just a plot for the further seasons, as in it, all of them meet each other on their journey and face a lot of challenges. In the witcher, Yennefer was shown with various disabilities because of the elf-blood running through her veins, which she learns later and her step-father sold her less than the price of a pig.
Tissaia de Verse, introduced in season 1, a powerful sorcerer, a member of the Chapter of the Gift and Art, trains Yennefer to learn magic. Yennefer has learned everything; she uses a mage to heal her deformity. In return for a beautiful body, she has to lose the one thing important for a woman, losing the chance of being a mother/bearing a child.
The Witcher series, mostly season 1, tells the tale of a Witcher, a monster hunter who hunts monsters for his living, money. The famous witcher knew as Geralt of Rivia, whose kind is not really pleased in the room. They basically are called ‘Butchers’ and are not treated equally throughout the continent.
On his journey to find his place in the world full of human beasts, Geralt meets Jaskier, a bard who travels with him a few times. Geralt meets Yennefer when trying to help Jaskier from the magic of a djinn, mentioned in The Last Wish.
After Yennefer helps Jaskier, she gets to know about djinn and tries to use its power to give herself the ability to bear a child. But Geralt realizes the djinn was very powerful, and Yennefer will die in the process. So Geralt decides to help Yennefer because she helped Jaskier, and that’s how both of them meet.
At the end of Season 1, during the Battle of Sodden Hill, Geralt meets Princess Cirilla of Cintra, Ciri, his destiny, whom he has to protect because of the Law of Surprise. The Northern Kingdoms won the battle only because of Yennefer of Vengerberg.
Yennefer Reads a Section from Blood of Elves
In a recently released video on YouTube of the Witcher, Yennefer of Vengerberg, Anya Chalotra reads an excerpt from the novel Blood of Elves for 5 minutes. The witcher season 2 is inspired by the same book she reads on YouTube.
In the video, Anya talked about when Yennefer losses her magic in season 2 after winning the Battle of Sodden by using fire magic. In season 2, episode 5, a fire mage captures Jaskier (Dandelion), who Yennefer meets after losing her magic.
The fire mage interrogates Jaskier about Ciri and pretends to be a drunken wife of an alcoholic person at the ‘fire f-ker.’ There Yennefer uses the magic she lost to free Jaskier from the interrogation of the fire mage. Yennefer and Jaskier use the city of Oxenfurt to their advantage, which was some of the alterations made by the showrunner compared to the book.
In season 2, episode 6, Yennefer of Vengerberg thinks of sacrificing Ciri to the Deathless Mother, Voleth Meir, to get her magic back. This incident wasn’t mentioned in the book Blood of Elves, whereas the book talks about their famous mother-daughter relationship.
At the end of season 2, everyone comes after Ciri, the Wild Hunt, the White Flame, the Brotherhood of Sorcerers, and the Elves. In season 3, Yennefer of Vengerberg will be shown to train Ciri and gain her trust over the happenings in season 2. The fans, if like, can read Andrzej’s novels to know more about them.
