Ao no Orchestra Season 2: Renewal Status + Release Date Predictions
Ao no Orchestra Season 2, will it be renewed?
Music is a key to any storytelling, and anime is no different as we have seen numerous series featuring unique musical stories over the years.
Whether it’s a punk rock band or hip-hop sensation, musical animes cover a variety of genres and are definitely worth watching if you enjoy your music.
As part of the Spring 2023 lineup, a new anime adaptation of Makoto Akui’s manga series, Ao no Orchestra, has been released on television. This particular series has garnered significant attention and has been highly anticipated by fans of the genre.
The story follows a violin prodigy named Hajime Aono, who used to win many competitions, and despite his young age, he is regarded as a professional violinist.
However, Hajime s’ life changes when his father is caught in an affair scandal which leads to the media harassing his family, and as a result, he swears not to play the violin again.
During the last academic year of his middle school tenure, Hajime had the opportunity to witness the musical prowess of Ritsko Akine, an aspiring violinist who had taken to playing the instrument in the school’s infirmary.
After a few meetings, Hajime is instructed by his teacher to regain his talent and teach Akine by joining a prestigious orchestra club which won the national competition eight times.
Hajime and Akine get accepted into the club, and after the opening performance, the former meets another musical prodigy Nao Saeki who is the top talent of the school.
Can Hajime find his true love for the violin amidst the past trauma as he competes against the best is the central plot of the show.

WHAT IS THE AO NO ORCHESTRA SEASON 2 RELEASE DATE?
Ao no Orchestra Season One premiered on 9th April 2023, and as of writing, there 17 out of the listed 24 episodes have been aired.
Currently, there is no update from studio Nippon Animation on the renewal of Ao no Orchestra Season 2.
SEASON | RELEASE DATE |
Ao no Orchestra Season 1 | 9th April 2023 |
Ao no Orchestra Season 2 | Yet to be Announced |
As mentioned earlier, so far, Ao no Orchestra Season One has been well received however, the series failed to make it into the top-rated anime list of Spring 2023.
Furthermore, there has been no hype around Ao no Orchestra since several mainstream popular titles like Demon Slayer, Oshi No Ko, Hell s’ Paradise, and Mashle have taken the limelight.
Even the romantic elements of the series fail to stack up against series like Skip and Loafer and My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999.
Another possible reason for the lack of attention is how similar Ao no Orchestra is with Your Lie in April.
Both animes have music dramas set in high school with child prodigies who play the violin as main characters.
However, Your Lie in April is much well developed with its storyline and beautiful animation, which leaves the viewers wondering, if they should even watch Ao no Orchestra.
Initially showing promise, the Ao no Orchestra encountered a decline in quality as the episodes progressed, as evidenced by its IMDB user episode rating.

Ao no Orchestra Episode 1 | 7.5 |
Ao no Orchestra Episode 2 | 8.5 |
Ao no Orchestra Episode 3 | 7.4 |

Unfortunately, this is where the hopes of renewal face a massive stumbling block as studio Nippon Animation albeit a veteran in the business, has declined in production capacity.
Since 2020, the studio has only produced four animes with no sequels and seems to be operating on one project a year basis.
Also, Ao no Orchestra is listed for 24 episodes which could further indicate that the creators with limited capacity have developed the anime for only one season.
Although there are no new projects scheduled for 2023, it’s highly unlikely that the studio will renew for Ao no Orchestra Season 2.
The good news is that the creators should not face any problems regarding source material, as sufficient volumes will be available to produce a sequel.
All in All, expecting any updates on Ao no Orchestra Season 2 trailer and Ao no Orchestra Season 2 release date could be a pointless wait.
