Exploring a fantasy world while fighting rivals is a trope that has been used popularly in this genre, and Spring 2017 was privy to the anime adaption of Kakeru Kobashiri s’ light novel Grimoire of Zero, which followed suit.
The premise is set in the year 526 of the Liturgical calendar, wherein Witches, through their magics, are ruling the world as the knowledge of sorcery remains elusive for the common man.
While the war between humans and witches wage on, there exists the Beastfallen curse, which causes humans to be born with animalistic appearance and strength.
Due to their incredible power and strength, Beastfallen acts primarily to sell swords and mostly to hunt witches for a living.
The story follows a white tiger Beastfallen known as Mercenary, who had been cast away from his village due to his appearance and was later adopted by human parents.
His only dream is to turn back into a human, and he incidentally runs into a witch named Zeo, who offers to grant his wish if he can protect her while she searches for a mighty magical tome called “The Book of Zero.”
Despite the hatred towards the Witches, the Mercenary decides to accompany and protect her and thus begins an unlikely journey of two people with mutual needs.
Grimoire of Zero seasons one was received with mixed reviews as many fans enjoyed the magical quest of polar opposite characters while others labeled it a mediocre fantasy.
Either way, fans of the show are wondering if and when will a second installment of Grimoire of Zero come out.

As of writing, there is no update from studio White Fox on the renewal of Grimoire of Zero Season 2.

However, Grimoire of Zero received a sequel in the form of Dawn of the Witch wherein characters such as Zero, Mercenary, Albus, and Holdem do appear who could also be the the part of the Grimoire of Zero Season 2 characters roster.
From a viewer s’ perspective, it does appear strange why the Dawn of the Witch gets an anime adaption while the original Grimoire of Zero series still has many volumes left to produce a sequel.
Another crucial factor that goes into renewal is the availability of the studio, and studio White Fox albeit a famous production house has a somewhat erratic release schedule.Currently, White Fox hasn’t announced any new projects for 2023 and has been inactive since the release of Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth way back in July 2022.
Possibly the allegation labeled against the studio for Discriminatory hiring practices could be the reason for the lack of announcement of new anime series.
Either way, while Grimoire of Zero Season 2 isn’t cancelled, it looks unlikely to be happening any time, especially after the debut of the sequel Dawn of the Truth.
Nevertheless, if the studio does revisit the series for a sequel, then we can expect the Grimoire of Zero Season 2 trailer and Grimoire of Zero Season 2 release date by the Summer of 2024.
GRIMOIRE OF ZERO LIGHT NOVEL AND MANGA CATCHUP
The Grimoire of Zero light novel is written by Kakeru Kobashiri and illustrated by Yoshinori Shizuma. ASCII Media Works published the series under its Dengeki Bunko imprint from 8th February 20134 to 9th December 2017.
The light novel has been published in 11 volumes, with the latest issue released on 9th December 2017. The light novel won the Grand Prize at the 20th annual Dengeki Novel Awards

Grimoire of Zero manga is written by Kakeru Kobashiri and illustrated by Takashi Iwasaki. It began serialization in ASCII Media Works seinen manga magazine Dengeki Maoh from 27th December 2014 to 10th December 2017.
The manga has been collected into six volumes, with the latest issue released on 27th June 2017.

GRIMOIRE OF ZERO SEASON 2 PLOT
In the finale of Grimoire of Zero Season one, “Grimoire of Zero,” Thirteen wonders if it was Sorena s’ sacrifice that prompted the humans and witches to go against each other.
Zero and Thirteen are offered protection from Mercenary and Holden while they perform the ritual. Albus arrives to assist with the ritual, which uses the Mercenary s’ body as a vessel to seal the magic in the Wenias Kingdom.
After three days, Mercenary is still a Beastfallen as Zero s’ magic has waned off. She gets her Grimoire back from Thirteen.
Albus plans to burn Thirteen at the stake to reunite humanity, but while setting the latter on fire, he escapes through the engulfing flames.
Zero not only reveals that Thirteen is her older brother but also considers having a romantic relationship with the Mercenary. However, the Mercenary insists that he is only there for her protection.
Grimoire of Zero Season one covered the first volume of the light novel, which means Grimoire of Zero Season 2 will begin by adapting volume 2.

GRIMOIRE OF ZERO CAST, CHARACTERS, AND CREW
Grimoire of Zero anime is directed by Tetsuo Hirakawa and animated by White Fox Studios.
Characters are designed by Ryosuke Kimiya and Daisuke Mataga, while the music is composed by Akito Matsuda. Daisuke Mataga and Ryosuke Kimiya are the Chief Animation Directors.
The opening theme, titled “Hakken-sha wa Watashi,” is performed by Tapimiru, and the ending theme, titled “Hajimari no Shirushi,” is performed by Chima.

CONCLUSION
