Ah! Superheroes never go out of fashion, be it with capes or masks. The rather colorful world of a hero is one of prestige. We have all loved a superhero at one point and probably continue to do so. The representation of these characters is what makes them so exciting and engaging.

One such representation of superheroes is the animated series created by Robert Kirkman called Invincible. The show follows Mark Grayson, the son of the strongest superhero, Nolan, aka Omni-man, who awakens his power after his seventeenth birthday.

Mark is still young and raw and isn’t fully able to control his powers. Fortunately, he has the best mentor in his father, who takes him under his wings. Invincible shows the superhero journey of Mark, aka Invincible, and unveils some dark secrets about his father,  Omni man.

Despite only eight-episode long, Invincible season one was a massive success. The mini-series manages to hook the viewers with a jaw-dropping first episode and continues the excitement till the ending.

Invincible follows the story of Mark Grayson, a 17-year-old teenager who discovers he possesses superhuman abilities such as immense strength, the ability to fly, and remarkable speed.

He embarks on a journey to harness these powers with the guidance of his father, Nolan Grayson, also known as Omni-Man, a prominent superhero within Earth’s ranks.

The voice cast of Invincible features notable actors including Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, J.K. Simmons, Andrew Rannells, Zazie Beetz, Gillian Jacobs, Walton Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Zachary Quinto, Ross Marquand, Clancy Brown, and Mark Hamill, along with other talented individuals.

The pandemic plagued a lot of studios for their renewal; hence it’s unsure if both the seasons are under production or not. Sky Bound Entertainment and Point Grey Pictures seem confident in producing two seasons in 2 years.

We expect Invincible Season 2 will also comprise of 8 episodes.

The initial portion of Invincible Season 2 is set to premiere on November 3, 2023, while the latter part of Season 2 is scheduled for an early 2024 broadcast.

Invincible Season one is rated 8.7/10 on IMBD and is 98% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Invincible season one final episode, “Where I came from,” saw Nolan revealing his true identity as a Viltrumite to his son, Mark. Nolan invites Mark to join forces to conquer earth but fails. As a result, the Omni man beats his son to a pulp and, in the process, destroys the whole city of Chicago.

Nolan tries again to explain to Mark the benefits of conquering the earth, but Mark lying lifeless in a pool of blood only replies with a “Dad.” Nolan is left speechless and angrily jets off from the earth.

The aftermath of Nolan betrays left around the world. Allen warns Mark that the Viltrumite will come for the earth, and Nolan s’ betrayal won’t go down well with the empire. The finale ends with Mark and Amber getting back together as evil forces prepare to change the face of the earth.

Invincible Season 2 will most likely stay true to the original content, which means we will get many new characters. One such character will be the main antagonist, i.e., Angstrom Levy. He will be looking to seek revenge for his disfigurement and mauler twins by using his shape-shifting abilities.

The second season will also explain where and why did Omniman leave earth and what his plans are now. Without spoiling too much, Nolan will face repercussions from the Viltrumite, for which he would need to provide compensation.

As we saw in episode four of season one, Sequids, after impersonating an Astronaut, have now taken over Mars and the Martians. Season 2 invincible will include the Sequid’s invasion of the earth as the central plot.

Finally, Mark will become even more significant as he has to protect the world and his fatherless family. When I say family, I don’t mean just his mother but also his newfound brother.

[Spoilers]Yes, when Mark meets Nolan on the conquered planet of Thraxan, the latter reveals that he has fathered another child. As Nolan is taken away by the Viltrumites, Nolan asks Mark to take care of his little brother.

Many storylines and characters will be introduced in Invincible season 2, and it remains to be seen how the whole show pans out.

As mentioned previously, Robert Kirman is the creator of Invincible. There are already 144 issues of the comics which have been released and the first season only adapted 13 issues from the comics

The staggering success of the animated tv series has also been reflected in the sales of the graphic novel. More than 400,000 copies had been sold by the end of 2021. Also, issue #1 of the comic was sold for $4500 as a collector’s item.

It’s no wonder why, with so much depth in content and profit in sales, the creators announced a renewal for both Invincible Season two and three.
