Netflix – ‘You Season 3′ : Release Date & What We Know So Far
You series has been renewed by Netflix for a third season, which will air in 2021 and is currently in production. Here’s what we know about You Season 3 so far, from new cast announcements, shooting locations, and everything else we know.
Netflix reaffirmed its commitment to You by renewing the acclaimed psychological drama for a third season less than a month after season 2 debuted. It’s not shocking, given that more than 54 million people watched the second season. The show was renewed on Netflix after becoming a Lifetime show.
Joe relocated to the Golden Coast of Los Angeles in the second season, leaving the Big Apple of New York behind.
It wasn’t long after he changed his name to Will that his new inspiration, Love Quinn, appeared. People just appeared to die around Joe, despite his resolve to change his murderous ways. Fans were left craving more after the climactic finale, which Netflix would thankfully deliver finally.
You Season 3 on Netflix: What to Expect
In September 2020, we learned that You is casting a new member of the ensemble. His name is Dante. Penn Badgley and Victoria Pedretti will both return (to no one’s surprise), according to a casting grid.
According to Netflix Queue, two new cast members will enter season 3 in October 2020.
Shalita Grant, better known for her roles as Sonja Percy on NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans, is the first newcomer. Sherry is the most recent role she has played on the soap.
As he “invite Joe into his inner circle,” Travis VanWinkle is the second new character in Season 3 who seems to be very close to Joe. Travis is most known for his role as Jason Voorhees in the 2009 horror film Friday the 13th.
Netflix Queue revealed another change to the cast on October 21st, with Scott Speedman taking over the role of Matthew. Scott has also appeared in shows such as Underworld and The Strangers.
Then, in late November 2020, Variety revealed the season 3 cast’s final 13 new and returning members.
The following are the details:
1. Love’s mother is played by Saffron Burrows.
2. Theo is played by Dylan Arnold.
3. Marienne is played by Tati Gabrielle.
4. Natalie is played by Michaela McManus.
5. Kiki is played by Shannon Chan-Kent.

9. Jackson Mackenzie is played by Bryan Safi.

What will happen in You Season 3?
Caroline Kepnes’ Hidden Bodies will continue to be adapted in Season 3, with the first episode titled “And They Lived Happily Ever After.” The first episode was written by Sera Gamble and Mairin Reed and directed by Silver Tree. The script was posted on Twitter by the author and can be found below.
Love Quinn was reported to have murdered Delilah at the conclusion of the ninth episode of the second season, which came as a shock. Love’s announcement that she had been following him and had been aware of his antics all along, but still loved him, took Joe off balance. She also admitted to framing her boyfriend, Forty, and murdering his lover when they were children.
Forty, who was completely unaware of his sister’s actions, attempted to protect her from Joe but died in the process. As Officer Vasquez tried to execute Joe after pursuing Delilah’s sister to Anavrin, he shot and killed Forty.
Joe was taken off the arrest list for Henderson’s death after Forty’s attempted assassination and Quinn’s financial problems were overcome. The third season is set up when Joe strongly implies his next “victim” would be his next-door neighbour after moving to the suburbs with a heavily pregnant girlfriend.
Penn Badgley, the show’s lead star, has his own theories on what to expect from Joe in season 3. He thinks Joe will attempt to reclaim what was stolen from him as a child, implying that Joe will try to figure out what caused him to become a sociopath.
Since completing the book’s plot by the conclusion of the second season, the third season will take the biggest step away from the source material yet. The second season’s narrative was inspired by Caroline Kepnes’ book Hidden Bodies, and although the series deviating from the book’s core storyline, there was still a wealth of detail on the characters. Caroline Kepnes’ only job since then has been Providence, which is a whole different storey (though we’ll cover another that was recently revealed shortly).
Where does the You Season 3 production stands today?
Production has come to an end. The third season of the series was still in the scripting stages as of March 2020, and shooting was set to begin in the summer. However, due to the COVID-19 interruption, this never happened.
As they shared on their joint Twitter account, both of the authors collaborated on the series solely from home. Digital Spy said that shooting will begin in February 2021 and that the movie will be released in 2021, but this has since been debunked.
We learned in September 2020, thanks to scooper Daniel Richtman, that You season 3 will begin filming in early November 2020 and run until “late April 2021.” He also announced that, like most other Netflix productions, the set would be subject to COVID-19 regulations.
Season 3 was officially confirmed to be in development on November 2nd, 2020. According to showrunner Sera Gamble, production ended on April 23rd, 2021, with information about some of the drawbacks of running a production during COVID-19 periods. Sera Gamble sent us a brief update in April 2021, when she shared the script cover for episode 10. Although the title has been blurred, we know it will be written by Sera and Neil Reynolds and directed by Silver Tree.
According to ProductionWeekly from November 2020, filming was set to wrap sometime in April. It’s unsure if this is still the case, so we should expect Netflix’s general social media and the unique You account to announce the details after the film is over.
When will the third season of You be available on Netflix?
The most crucial of all questions. When do we expect You season 3 to be released on Netflix?
The best part is that the date has been set for 2021. We’re anticipating a Netflix release date for You season 3 in Q4 2021. That means every time between September 1st and December 31st.
