After fifth season The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 is about to release. Here is everything we know abut the show.
Before the premiere of the fifth season in 2022, Hulu announced that the series would conclude with a final season.
This awaited final season is scheduled to launch next year, although the ongoing writers’ strike in Hollywood is causing delays for numerous shows’ release dates.
Bruce Miller, the creator, showrunner, and executive producer of the series, shared his thoughts on the upcoming sixth season, stating, “We have had the honour of recounting the narrative of Margaret Atwood’s revolutionary novel and its disturbingly relevant universe, and we are excited to present audiences with the concluding sixth season of The Handmaid’s Tale.”
We extend our thanks to Hulu and MGM for granting us the chance to narrate this exciting story, which, unfortunately, maintains its relevance over the course of time.
We are deeply impressed by our amazing supporters, whose steadfast backing has brought us to this juncture.

What Happened in The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5?
Anyone who has seen every episode of Handmaid’s Tale knows that the show’s season finales usually include mind-blowing cliffhangers and a tonne of unanswered problems.
Season 5 adheres to this pattern, leaving the audience to consider the potential turn of events. The Season 5 finale commences with June experiencing another near-death experience, albeit not at the hands of Gilead.
Now seeking asylum in Canada, June, and her dear ones are growing increasingly tense about a violent movement against refugees – and it’s evident that this unease is not without justification.
In a display of cruelty, June is struck by a car outside her house, leading to her swift hospitalization. Her husband, Luke (O-T Fagbenle), decides the same retaliation, inflicting a fatal beating on the assailant, who succumbs to his injuries.
Luke becomes a wanted person, and together with June’s youngest daughter Nichole, they decided to flee Canada. Nonetheless, Luke is faced with a heart-wrenching decision, give up himself to the authorities so that June and Nichole can depart Canada without being chased.
In the same episode, Nick (Max Minghella) reaches to a point of concern for June’s safety and eventually consents to act as a spy for Gilead in exchange for her protection.
Unaware of the assailant’s identity behind the recent attack in June, Nick accuses Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) and finds himself arrested after facing him on the matter.
Nick’s wife Rose (Carey Cox), the daughter of a Commander and content with her life in Gilead, informs Nick that she is ending their relationship due to his behavior.
In an earlier part of the series, Janine was forced by the Handmaid regulations to give up her newborn daughter to Naomi, resulting in a longstanding mutual antipathy. Janine’s suppressed anger erupts, leading to her arrest for disrespectfully addressing a Wife.
It’s safe to say that the destinies of nearly every Handmaid’s Tale characters are left uncertain at the culmination of Season 5. With Season 6 poised to be the final season, the stakes have never been higher, and the safety of no one is assured.
The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 Cast
Elisabeth Moss will return as June Osborne, the main character.
Considering the conclusion of Season 5, we can confidently expect the return of the these characters for Season 6: Yvonne Strahovski in the role of Serena, O-T Fagbenle portraying Luke, Ann Dowd plays Aunt Lydia, and Max Minghella plays Nick.
Madeline Brewer and Bradley Whitford have already confirmed their participation in the final season.
Unfortunately, there is one Handmaid’s Tale characters who will be missing from Season 6, Alexis Bledel, who portrayed Doctor-turned-Handmaid Emily Malek. Before the release of Season 5, it was found that Bledel “felt the need to step away from The Handmaid’s Tale at this juncture.”
Within the storyline, it was clear that Emily had returned to Gilead to resist from inside, following challenges in adapting to a peaceful life in Canada. Although no guest stars have been officially unveiled for Season 6, staying attentive for future updates is advisable.

The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 Storyline
There needs to be more information available about the final season’s storyline. However, we can speculate based on the culmination of fifth season and how the show may start to weaving the narrative bridge connecting the series’ events to Margaret Atwood’s sequel novel, The Testaments (2019).
The last we saw, June and Serena were aboard a train supposedly bound for Hawaii. It’s crucial to bear in mind, though, that Mark Tuello (Sam Jaeger) orchestrated June’s “escape” (maybe Serena’s as well, however it is still unknown how she got aboard the train.).
Would Tuello, who knows the pivotal role these women play in unveiling the inner mechanisms of Gilead, honestly allow his most precious assets to explore so far from his grasp? Or may he prefer to maintain them closer, perhaps somewhere akin to Commander Lawrence’s recently established enclave, New Bethlehem, which upholds Gilead’s principles yet promises its citizens more freedom?
Whatever happens, it will be exciting to see June and Serena’s fresh relationship to develop in this changing circumstances, wherever they end up.
We can also presume the aftermath of Nick’s and Luke’s apprehensions. While Nick has shown notable allegiance to Gilead thus far, the Season 5 finale unveiled his decision to go undercover.
Our conjecture leads us to believe that he will skillfully navigate his way out of his complex predicament and assure his release from custody. Embarking on his new role as Tuello’s informant may expose him to grave repercussions.
On the other hand, Luke is poised to come upon more difficult obstacles while detained. As a refugee confined within a Canadian prison for taking the life of a Canadian citizen, it’s evident that he won’t garner much support among his fellow inmates.
Given the life-threatening situations both men face, there is a palpable likelihood that June’s children could find themselves fatherless by the series’ culmination.
In Margaret Atwood’s Testaments, a fresh role emerges for the women within Gilead: the Pearl Girls. Tasked with crossing the Gilead border into Canada, these Pearls are responsible for hiring women to return to Gilead with them.
Given Janine’s abrupt arrest in the Season 5 finale, we can expect her undergoing Gilead’s “retraining” in preparation for becoming the inaugural Pearl Girl. In The Testaments, Aunt Lydia plays a pivotal role in the downfall of Gilead, and we hypothesize that witnessing Janine’s apprehension was a transformative moment for her.
We believe she will intercede with the Gilead Commanders to release Janine from the death penalty and will play a crucial role in establishing the Pearl Girls initiative.
While our conclusions are based on speculation, Handmaid’s Season 6 promises to conclude with a very lasting impression, irrespective of the outcome.
