The reason behind The White Flame killing the Elven baby was only to ensure that the Elves could be manipulated to his whim. The famous Ithlinne’s Prophecy stated that the world would end with a child with pure Elven Blood where all the species would die, but the Elves would survive. For this prophecy to come true, Elves needed to have a baby because the way they were treated on the Continent was way worse than one could imagine.

However, in the world of Witcher, it is really difficult for the Elves to have babies, and that too pure Elven Blood. The Elven clan would go to great lengths to protect the pure elder blood child as it would protect them from the world. The leader of the Elven clan, Francesca, did have a baby, but it was killed by The White Flame.

The White Flame, Duny, was aware of two of the pure Elder Blood child; in which one of them was his own daughter Ciri and the other was Francesca’s unborn child. And The White Flame’s decision to kill Francesca’s baby had two reasons. The first was controlling the Elves, as by killing Francesca’s baby, he manipulated the Elves to seek revenge on others, and his competitors would diminish. The second reason for his actions was that the birth of another pure elder blood child would definitely lead to fulfilling the Ithlinne’s Prophecy and Ciri ending the whole world, which could happen in the long term.

However, there are other theories being heard from the viewers about The White Flame killing the baby out of hatred from the Elves. But this doesn’t justify Duny’s long-term plan to fake his own death, which was mentioned in The Witcher Season 1. The White Flame definitely has planned something greater for himself. Everything will unfold in the next, The Witcher Season 3. Till then, stay tuned for updated news about The Witcher world.
