Loki Series Confirms That The Infinity Stones Don’t Matter Anymore
With the newly released Loki series, Marvel Cinematic Universe confirms that the Infinity stones no longer holds an essential place in the upcoming marvel phase 4. The Infinity stones established the first decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a way. They mattered so much in the first three phases of MCU that the phases were named the Infinity saga. Let’s have a look at all the Loki series release date updates and how the Loki series explain this.
What is the infinity stones’ role in MCU Phase 4?
As you all know Thanos destroyed all the Infinity stones in Avengers: Endgame but some successive movies and shows continue their research on the Stones in tremendous detail and present them in a new light.
For example in WandaVision Scarlet witch evolved a connection to the mind stone and then associated it to Vision’s retrieval. Also, the Doctor Strange sequel will most likely feature the time stone whether it will be about getting the stone back or showcasing how Doctor Strange can alter time without it.
Now it comes to the Loki series as Loki’s entire existence is because of the space stone. He used the stone to escape during the time heist performed in Avengers: Endgame which led to the creation of this version of Loki that fans will be seeing in the Disney plus Loki series.
How does the Loki Series confirms that MCU has moved on from the Infinity Stones?
All of these events resulted in Loki getting caught by the Time variance authority in the violation of disturbing the timeline. From where we are looking it seems that all of the phase four is somehow molded by the actions of Thanos and his use of the Infinity stones. Then how is it possible that the Infinity stones doesn’t matter in phase 4?
Even though the Tesseract aka the Space stone is what gave birth to the story of the Loki series, the show itself hinders the concept of Infinity stones being significant. In the first episode of Loki series titled “Glorious Purpose”, Loki is brought down to the Time variance authority headquarters where the space stone is passed over to a worker’s desk named Casey who doesn’t even know what the stone actually is.
Later the episode continues to reveal multiple Infinity stones in a desk drawer that has been confiscated by the Time variance authority and some of the employees were seen using them as paperweights. It shows that outside of the main MCU timeline the Infinity stones doesn’t matter, despite the incredible powers the stones wield as seen in the past three phases. The show conveys a message that the stones are now irrelevant, useless and powerless which delivers a statement that the MCU has moved on from the Infinity stones.
It’s understandable in some ways that the Infinity stones no longer have any power in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Each stone controlled a different element of the universe but the Time variance authority prevails outside of the MCU universe and have unique rules of time and space. They are not bonded to the equivalent existence as the universe of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that’s why the Infinity stones doesn’t matter in the Loki series.
The Infinity stones hold the power to affect a timeline but when there is isn’t a timeline in the first place, they are entirely useless. This also shows both Loki and the fans that how strong the Time variance authority and the Time keepers are. When Thanos gathered all the Infinity stones and assemble them in the gauntlet they presented the greatest power of the universe but that seems nothing to the Time keepers.
This will pave a path for Marvel to completely move on from the Infinity stones. The return of the Eye of Agamotto in the Doctor Strange sequel will suggest that even after Thanos destroyed it before he destroyed the time stone, Doctor Strange has other ways of manipulating time other than using the time stone.
With the multiverse being introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe among other elements like the Quantum real which will be getting more attention than before, the MCU wouldn’t need the Infinity stones to mess with the timelines and the universe and repeat things that we have already seen in the Infinity saga. Marvel phase four will bring out different ways to make an impact.
All this leads us to one thing that the Infinity stones no longer hold the same power they held in the first three phases as the Loki series shows that they don’t matter so much outside of the main timeline. As for their presence in Phase 4, it needs to be carved on the dangers masqueraded by Thanos and ultimately surpass it and for that this isn’t a bad approach to begin things.
