MIX Season 2 gets its first look!

Sports and anime have a long history of producing popular series with interesting characters and intriguing storylines.

The options available for a sports fan are innumerable, with likes of Blue lock, Haikyuu, Yuri on Ice, Sk8: Infinity, Tsurune, and many more covering various sports.

Football, Skating, Basketball, and Boxing have all received mainstream animes, and it was only a matter of time before Baseball got its adaption in the form of Mix Meisei’s Story.

The story s’ premise is about the legendary team left by Tatsuya Uesugi of the Meisei Academy High School, which won its first championship and was regarded as the strongest baseball team.

However, 26 years later, the team has been nowhere near the pinnacle and has considerably regressed over time.

Two stepbrothers, Souichirou and Touma Tachibana are frustrated at the downfall and aim to return the Meisei Academy baseball team to the top.

Can the stepbrothers successfully take to their former glory as they learn their father s’ sport heritage is the central plot of the show.

Mix Meisei’s Story season one was received mostly with positive reactions however, it couldn’t attract the same hype as other baseball anime counterparts like Ace of Diamond and Cinderella Nine, released in the Spring of 2019.

Either way, Baseball is an extremely popular sport in the United States of America which incidentally is also a country where anime is heavily consumed.

So, the overlap of the two interests was quite obvious, and consequently, fans of Mix Meisei’s Story are wondering if there will be a second season or not.

WHAT IS THE MIX MEISEI’S STORY SEASON 2 RELEASE DATE?

Mix Meisei’s Story Season one aired from 6th April 2019 to 28th September 2019 for 24 episodes.

On 12th December 2022, the show s’ official Twitter account announced the renewal of MIX Season 2, and Mix Meisei’s Story Season 2 release date is confirmed to be on 1st April 2023.

The January 2023 issue of Shogakukan’s Monthly Shonen Sunday magazine revealed more details for the Mix: Meisei Story anime’s second season on Monday. 

The magazine revealed the anime’s second season title Mix: Meisei Story Nidome no Natsu, Sora no Mukou e or Mix: Meisei Story ~Our Second Summer, Beyond the Sky.

The renewal doesn’t come as a surprise since studio OLM is known to give most of its projects a sequel.

Since Crunchyroll and Funimation streamed the anime’s first season on their platforms, they’re likely to release this one too.

Unfortunately, the creators didn’t share either the Mix Meisei’s Story Season 2 trailer or the episode count.

MIX MANGA CATCHUP

MIX manga is written and illustrated by Mitsuru Adachi. It began serialization in Monthly Shonen Sunday on 12th May 2012.

Due to Covid, MIX manga had to take a hiatus in May 2020 and returned on 12th October 2020. 

As of writing, the manga has been collected into 20 Volumes, with the latest issue released on 10th February 2023.

Volume 2 was the 48th best-selling manga volume from 19th November 19, 2012, to 19th May 2013, with 390,176 copies, and the 82nd best-selling manga volume from 19th November 2012 to 17th November 2013, with 464,362 copies.

MIX SEASON 2 PLOT

In the finale of Mix Meisei’s Story Season one, “A Bit Like Him”? The semi-final between Meisei High School and Toushuu High continues to be a close game with no score from either team. 

In the extra innings, Mita, a super high school class lefty from Toushuu, becomes even more impressive. 

In contrast, Touma rapidly makes progress during the game. Before he knows it, his pitching form has become the ideal way to throw.

An official plot is yet to be revealed by Studio OLM, but we can expect Mix season 2 to continue where season one left off and pick up after the events of the first year.

MIX Season 2 will begin by adapting from Volume 11 of the manga, and the story will take place after the Summer of the first year of high school.

MIX MEISEI’S STORY CAST, CHARACTER, AND CREW

Mix Meisei’s Story anime is directed by Toshinori Watanabe with a series composition by Atsuhiro Tomioka. Characters are designed by Takao Maki, and the music is composed by Norihito Sumitomo.

Tomohiro Kamitani is replacing Toshinori Watanabe as director, while the rest of the main staff is returning from the first season.

Sumika performs the series’ opening theme song, “Equal,” while Little Glee Monster performs the series’ ending theme song, “Kimi ni Todoku Made.

Animation is produced by studio OLM who have developed popular series like Cardfight!! Vanguard G NEXT, Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro 2nd Attack, and Pokémon Evolutions.
