When we hear the words Harem, comedy, and romance, the first thought which enters most anime fans’ minds is a series wherein the popular guys get all the cute girls through cliché circumstances.
We wouldn’t blame anyone for thinking anything differently as most animes under this genre utilize this trope, and the anime adaption of Reiji Miyajima s’ manga series Rent-a-Girlfriend obliges with the same.
The story follows college student Kazuya Kinoshita who suffers a breakup with her girlfriend, Mami Nanami, as she meets someone else.
Alone and depressed, Kazuya decides to curb the pain by hiring a rental girlfriend from the online dating app called Diamond.
He hires the most recommended girl named Chizuru Mizuhara, who manages to gain his attention with her unparalleled beauty and cuteness.
While everything looks smooth in the beginning, Kazuya reads about Chizuru s’ similar experiences with other customers, which frustrates him, and he gives her a one-star rating.
He also complains to her that she fooled him and the whole dating experience was nothing but a charade; however, Chizuru lambasts his nativity for not knowing how a rental girlfriend works.
Their confrontation is cut short when Kazuya finds out that her grandmother has collapsed. The pair rush to the hospital and find out that she is in good condition but notices Chizuru s’ presence.
She asks Kazuya who the young girl is, to which Kazuya declares they are lovers forcing Chizuru to play her part.
Kazuya s’ grandmother is smitten with Chizuru, which forces them to keep up the act. Things get even more complicated when they find out they are neighbors and attend the same college.
Will the pair maintain the ruse amidst craziness is the central plot of the show.
Although a cliché rom-com, Rent A Girlfriend manages to be a decent watch and garner a sizeable fanbase who, after two seasons, are wondering if a third one is on the cards.

WHAT IS THE RENT A GIRLFRIEND SEASON 3 RELEASE DATE?
Rent A Girlfriend Season one aired from 11th July 2020 to 26th September 2020 for 12 episodes. The anime was renewed for a second season which ran from 2nd July 2022 to 17th December 2022 for 12 episodes.
On 16th September 2022, the show s’ official Twitter announced the renewal and production of Rent A Girlfriend Season 3.
Unfortunately, neither Rent A Girlfriend Season 3 trailer and Rent A Girlfriend Season 3 release date was revealed.

TMS entertainment is a popular studio who are known for producing multiple projects in a year. As of writing, Dr. Stone: New World is scheduled to premiere in 2023, and the previous year, the studio released five anime series.
Hence, it’s predicted Rent A Girlfriend Season 3 will most likely premiere in July 2023.
UPDATE: Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 3 will also be adapted and will be aired on July 2023.

RENT A GIRLFRIEND MANGA CATCHUP
Rent A Girlfriend manga is written and illustrated by Reiji Miyajima. It began serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine on 12th July 2017.
The manga has been collected into 29 volumes, with the latest issue released on 16th December 2022, while volume 23 is scheduled to release on 17th February 2023.
As of December 2021, Rent A Girlfriend manga has sold over 10 million copies in print and digital.
To celebrate the news, Miyajima released a visual of Chizuru in a dress that would give Kazuya a heart attack if he saw her in it. Miyajima said that it was an illustration that he’s been wanting to draw for a while now.

RENT A GIRLFRIEND SEASON 3 PLOT
In the finale of Rent A Girlfriend Season 2, “Girlfriend and Me,” Chizuru reminisces about her grandfather after another failed audition.
Her grandfather tells her a story about when he discovered that her grandmother was an actor. Years later, he passed away in a car accident, but Chizuru remembers his promise of fulfilling her dreams.
Kazuya arrives before a distraught Chizuru, who suggests she make a movie for her grandmother using crowdfunding, and Chizuru agrees.
Rent A Girlfriend Season 2 is covered till Volume 13: Chapter 104 of the manga, which means Rent A Girlfriend Season 3 will continue by adapting the Rental Girlfriend’s Dream Arc.
Kazuya was initially a customer of Chizuru, but now he is the producer, and it’s not sweet sailing as the noisy neighbor Mini Yaemori enters the fray.
Mini notices Chizuru and Kazuya arguing and blurts out why they aren’t in a relationship which just adds extra tension.
She also assumes Kazuya is a playboy since he rents a girlfriend, forcing her to kidnap him as he confesses the truth.
Mini is moved by Kazuya s’ story and decides to become her master and unite him with Chizuru as a real girlfriend.
While Mini s’ intentions might be true, neither Chizuru nor Ruka are thrilled by the overzealous Mini overlapping with love and work.
