Like previous years, Isekai has given us many memorable series, and amidst the many isekai releases in 2022, Doufu Mayoi s’ light novel series titled Kuro no Shoukanshi or Black Summoner anime adapted by Studio Satelight is also one of them.
Black Summoner follows the story of Kelvin, who dies at God’s fault and accepts his fate to be reincarnated into a new world in exchange for skills of his choosing.
In addition to special powers and abilities, Kelvin also barters away his memories to hold the title of S-class summoner mage and is also presented as a servant in the form of Melfina, the God of Reincarnation.
Kelvin is smitten by the Goddess and now in-game menu Melfina as its love at first sight. His first fight involves slaying slime monsters, which in turn gives him another partner in the form of a slim, which he calls Clotho.
Although Kelvin is the highest-ranked Summoner, he is still level, and he seeks to hunt out more monsters to increase his level and become even more powerful.
Also, to summon God of Reincarnation Melfina in her physical form, he must collect enough mana points, which can be accomplished by defeating enemies and building stronger alliances.
Black Summoner follows the journey of Kelvin in this new world as he begins his new life slaying Knights, Evil Spirits, and monsters and discovers his true power as a battle junkie.
This summer 2022 isekai series was a hit and missed by the fans as some found it amusing while others complained about its generic overuse of isekai tropes without a substantial impact on the plot.

Black Summoner season 1 aired from 9th July 2022 to 24th September 2022 for 12 episodes.
As of writing, there is no official update from either the creator or writer for the renewal of Black Summoner Season 2.

As of February 2022, the Black Summoner series has sold over 1.4 million physical and digital copies, which has gained over 280 million pageviews.

BLACK SUMMONER SEASON 2 PLOT
Black Summoner Season 1 ended in Volume 3, Chapter 39 of the light novel, which means there is more than enough source material to produce not just a second season but additionally four seasons as well.
While there is uncertainty over the renewal of Black Summoner season 2, the final scene of season one, which ended with the words “The story continues,” indicates that Black Summoner Season 2 characters and plotline will continue.
