Kaina of the Great Snow Sea Season One aired from 12th January 2023 to 23rd March 2023 for 11 episodes.
As of writing, there is no update from studio Polygon Pictures on the renewal of Kaina of the Great Snow Sea Season 2.
However, the production team has announced a follow up sequel film titled Kaina of the Great Snow Sea: Star Sage which aired on 2nd July 2023 at Anime Expose and will premier in Japanese theatres on October 2023.

Kaina of the Great Snow: Star Sage serves as a direct sequel to the original series and picks up where the first season left off as Kaina finds himself once again in the icy heavens.
Ririha stays with them, forming an Alliance with Kaina’s Orbital Tree home, and meets with the people of Ririha.
They only have a limited number of days and don’t have a proper water supply. But Ririha will work on a plan where he will find a mysterious mythical Great Spire Tree; now they know that this is not just a story; it exists in reality.

OOYUKIUMI NO KAINA MANGA CATCHUP
Ooyukiumi no Kaina manga is written by Tsutomu Nihel and illustrated by Itoe Takemoto.
It began serialization in Kodansha’s shōnen manga magazine Monthly Shōnen Sirius on 26th February 2022.
The manga has been collected into two volumes, with the latest issue released on 9th February 2023.

KAINA OF THE GREAT SNOW SEA SEASON 2 PLOT
As mentioned earlier, Kaina of the Great Snow Sea: Star Sage ends on a satisfactory not, with Amelothee and Orinoga leading a rebellion against Byozan to subdue his security forces.
Kaina uses his harpoon gun to destroy the suit, and, together with Ririha, recite the command to complete the terraforming process to Light.
The Orbital Spire Trees then detach from the ground and float away into space, leaving behind large islands while the Snow Sea is transformed into a real sea.
The rest of Atland and Valghia relocate to the island the Great Orbital Spire Tree used to stand on and begin building a new civilization while Kaina and Ririha marry each other.
Usually, original series take more time to produce than animes based on manga or light novels due to the availability of source material.
But since Ooyukiumi no Kaina manga has only two volumes, there is next to no chance the creators will look to produce any plotlines through the manga.
The only possible return for Kaina of the Great Snow Sea is if the creators decide to explore the origins of the age of the Great Snow Sea and expand on Nihei’s highly original hard sci-fi take on the climate crisis.
