The next season by Amazon Studios takes the heroic stories of the fabulous Second Age of middle earth history to screens for the very first time. This epic drama, dated thousands of years ago to the events of J.R R. Tolkien and The Lord Of The Rings, brings back the audience in an age of the forging of great powers, of the ruining of the kingdoms, of the testing of unlikely heroes and of the hope hung with the finest threads.

The series follows an ensemble cast of both famous and emerging actors from a period of relative stability in which the long-feared reappearance of darkness to the centre of the world is being confronted. These realms and characters are to carry out legacies that continue to exist even after they are dead, from the darkest of the Misty Montains, the glorious woods of the Elf City of Lindon, the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor to the most distant areas of the map.

In the second century of Middle History, hundreds of years prior to the events of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings of J.R.R. Tolician, this Amazon’s web sequence will take place. Apart from that, little is known about the show. It will contain “both common and new characters,” but not all of them have been announced.

The introduction, on the other hand, teases the introduction of “the biggest villain that ever poured from Tolkien’s pen,” which most definitely refers to Sauron. Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series is sure to be unlike anything Middle-earth viewers have ever seen on television, thanks to its large size and modern settings like “the breathtaking island kingdom of Nmenor.”
