MIERUKO CHAN SEASON 2 RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED?
Mieruko chan Season 2 has been ghosting around for some while but has the show been renewed?
Horror in anime is still an unexplored territory as most mangaka prefer the conventional isekai or shonen route. But from time to time, we get one-off horror anime that reminds us why this genre needs more creators.
Mieruko chan is a horror-comedy anime written and illustrated by Tomoki Izumi that follows the story of high schooler Miko Yotsuya who can see ghosts coupled with her only form of entertainment being late-night horror shows.
She can see their presence amongst humans, especially around her best friend, Hana Yurikawa, who is unbeknownst to her ghost-seeing powers. Fearlessly, she decides not to acknowledge these specters and continues leading an everyday school life.
Can Mieruko carry on her unassuming life with these ghosts lurking around is the central plot of the show.
Mieruko Chan season one was well received in the community, and fans have been wondering when will Mieruko Chan season 2 come out? Read more to find out if the show has been renewed or not.
HAS MIERUKO CHAN BEEN RENEWED FOR SEASON 2?
As of writing, there is no official news from the creators or studio on the renewal status of Mieruko Chan Season 2.
The first season ran from October 2021 till 19th December 2021 with 12 episodes, and the Mieruko chan season 2 release date is yet to be announced.
After the first season ended, on the 20th of October, writer Tomoki Izumi Tweeted, “I see a person who says that Mieruko-chan is complete, but I wonder if that is mentioned somehow. It’s not complete. It’s still a long way to go.”

It’s difficult to say if the production for the second season has started or not. Considering that it takes two years for an anime to get a second season, we expect the Mieruko Chan season 2 release date to be in 2023 with a 12-episode season as well.
Mieruko Chan is rated 7.4/10 and ranked #1806 with 374k members on MyAnimeList.
MIERUKO CHAN SEASON 2 PLOT+ EXPECTATIONS
Mieruko Chan’s season one final episode, “The Girl Who Sees, Mieruko-chan,” ended the series on a lighter note with a cliffhanger last scene. We see Zen freed from guilt after his mother s’ ghost is destroyed. His pet kitten s’ spirit passes away peacefully as Miko finds a way for Zen to adopt a newly rescued kitten.
Zen attacks a man suspected of attacking cats, but his status remains unknown as police put up missing posters. Miko decides to offer gratitude to the shrine spirits for help, but they get angry and try to devour her. She wakes up and realizes it was only a nightmare.
Miko begins living an everyday life after getting used to ignoring ghosts but keeps wondering why she can see ghosts. She walks home with Hana and Yulia, and then we see that the shrine maidens secretly follow her.
Mieruko Chan season 2 will pick up from where the first season left off. According to the manga, A new character of a stalker will be introduced who Miko is curious about. The stalker will be an illusionist who can also see ghosts and repel them with magical stones.
In season one, we saw Mitsue run off to the countryside after closing her shop, but she will make a comeback in Mieruko Chan season 2. Miko will gather that Mitsue is a netherworld entity and tell Miko that maidens are from a paranormal world.
Speaking of maidens, we already know Miko had exhausted her three wishes and is now being followed by the three damsels. Their confrontation will again be a plot point for the second season.
Many mysteries in the first season of Mieruko chan were never resolved or answered. For instance, we never get to know how Miko s’ father died as his spirit wanders around the house.
Secondly, Yulia and Miko have different powers, and the show never explains why Yuka can see only auras while Miko can see the ghostly manifestation itself. Season 2 shall clarify this doubt and explain the power dynamics between these two.
The status of the cat killer is also unknown, as Zen was tasering the last we saw of him. We expect season two to tell us what Zen did with Yajiro Tanka.
There is little to no information on who the shrine maidens are and why they offer “only three” wishes to Miko. In Mieruko chan season 2, it’s expected they will be the villains per se as they almost devoured Mieruko in the first season.
Finally, viewers would be keen to know why Miko can see ghosts and did she come into possession of these supernatural powers.
Mieruko Chan season one has set up many interesting plot points and unanswered questions, which the fans will be excited to know in Mieruko Chan season 2.
