Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings: Why Is Wong In A Fight With Abomination?

The second trailer for Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings guarantee an interesting fight between Abomination and Wong Doctor Strange. Earlier, both the characters’ return in phase 4 was confirmed, but we didn’t expect them to appear in Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings – let alone their appearance in the second trailer.

For some time, few rumors have surfaced claiming that Simu Liu’s master of Kung Fu will take part in an MCU martial arts tournament. With Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings releasing soon, all these theories have been proven right. The trailer reveals Shang-Chi in a Cage fight against his sister, Xialing. But the most shocking fight of the tournament turned out to be the one-on-one between Abomination and Wong Doctor Strange. 

In the trailer, Wong’s face wasn’t revealed completely. Combined with the trailer, A photo of Simu Liu With Wong Doctor Strange actor Benedict Wong taken during the filming of Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings is proof that the character is returning before the release of Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness.

Why is Wong Doctor Strange Actor Benedict Wong fighting Abomination?

Though it is clear that Abomination and Wong are engaged in a fighting event of some sort, we don’t know why they are fighting. Giving life to Abomination on-screen, Tim Roth, who must have escaped from imprisonment between the Incredible Hulk and Shang-Chi, could be fighting for honor, and the prize was given to the winner of the event. 

It shouldn’t surprise anyone if he wins the tournament given his strength and abilities, but with Wong being his opponent, his reason behind taking part in this fight may not be so simple. Wong is a master of the Mystic Arts who has specific responsibilities and duties to fulfill, so it’s hard to imagine why he would participate in an underground martial arts tournament unless he has some solid reasons for it.

Is Wong On A Secret Mission For Doctor Strange?

It could be possible that the tournament may connect with the Mandarin and his evil organization, and it could be the reason behind Wong’s presence in the movie. The ten rings possess some great magical powers that Doctor Strange could be interested in. 

Given their strength and capabilities, it could be decided that it would be best if the ten rings don’t get into the wrong hands and are secured in a safe place like the Sanctum Sanctorum. There bad guys like the Mandarin won’t be able to use them for their benefit. If That’s the case, then Wong may be on a mission to seize the ten rings, and then it would make sense why he is competing in the tournament, especially if the ten rings are the price they are offering.

Another scenario is that he took part in the tournament as a fighter to make way for himself in the ten rings organization that the masters of Mystic art may comprehend as a major menace. 

In conclusion, the reason doesn’t matter because it looks like Wong won’t be progressing to the end of the tournament in Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings. From what we saw in the trailer, Abomination looks pretty determined to win the event and probably fight Shang-chi in the next round. If Wong is there because he is on a sorcerer’s mission, he may retreat empty-handed to the Sanctum Sanctorum.
