Football is arguably the most popular sport in the world, and it is no surprise that the beautiful game has inspired numerous animes.
Series like Ao Ashi, Captain Tsubasa, Fantasia, and the recent sensation Blue Lock have been a massive success despite sports not being a mainstream genre.
However, when it comes to football animes, one can’t miss the Shoot series, which received two adaptions with the latest original series titled Shoot Goal to the Future.

SEASON | RELEASE DATE |
Shoot Goal to the Future Season 1 | 2nd July 2022 |
Shoot Goal to the Future Season 2 | Yet to be Announced |
Production studios consider various financial and commercial metrics before announcing a renewal.
As mentioned earlier, Shoot Goal to the Future Season One failed to impress the majority of the fans and critics. As a result, it was among the top 5 worst-rated series of Summer 2022.
Like many reboots, Shoot Goal to the Future lacks any kind of character development or plot progression, which resembles the original Shoot series.
Shoot Goal to the Future anime is written like love for football, friendship, and even a little bit of romantic love, and it is all written naturally.
Shoot Goal to the Future anime has represented it in such a beautiful way that after watching this anime, you will feel like you are playing football.
Even the animation quality feels static and old, which is a shame considering the latest technology available.
While the reviews and ratings don’t warrant a sequel, a crucial factor for renewal will be the availability of studio and source material.
Currently, the studio has listed two new projects (Fully Paradise and Shumatsu Train Doko e Iku) for 2024 hower Studio EMT Squared isn’t exactly known for producing sequels, with only Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear being renewed since Rainy Cocoa in Hawaii in 2016.
Furthermore, Shoot Goal to the Future is an original series; hence, there is source material such as Shoot Goal to the Future manga for the creators to adapt future plotlines.
All in All, it’s highly unlikely that creators will renew for Shoot Goal to the Future Season 2.
Hence, expecting any updates on Shoot Goal to the Future 2 trailer and Shoot Goal to the Future season 2 release date could be a pointless wait.

SHOOT GOAL TO THE FUTURE SEASON 2 PLOT
In the final episode of Shoot Goal to the Future Season One, “Beginning,” Kohei calls Hideto a genius despite the latter losing.
Atsushi rallies his team and asks them to report tomorrow morning at 5:30 if they want to make the nationals.
Later, Atsushi visits Shirahashi’s’ grave and states he will continue coaching as he asks his late friend to watch him.
The episode ends with Hideto expressing his love for football and wanting to play with his teammates forever.
As Shoot Goal to the Future is an original anime, the source material doesn’t exist, but we can expect the story to continue in Shoot Goal to the Future Season 2.
With new members joining the team, Hideo, along with his teammates, will undoubtedly compete for the Nationals and hope to win it.
