Lycoris Recoil is an original anime created by Spider Lily and Asaura. The show is produced by A-1 Pictures and began premiering in July 2022.
The story is set in Japan, where the Direct Attack or DA syndicate is responsible for eliminating crimes by hiring orphan girls under the Lycoris program.
Among the many orphan girls is Takina Inoue, one of the best Lycoris with the natural panache for carrying out the assassination. However, in one such mission, she disobeys the chain of command and is transferred from DA into Lyreco, a disguised café.
In this new place, she meets the child prodigy and Chisato Nishikigi, who teaches her the joys of life beyond the job. Meanwhile, Takina only wants to perform her duty, get back to DA, and be recognized for her work.
Can contrasting personalities of Takina and Chisato get along and become friends while carrying out their mission is the central plot of the show.

LYCORIS RECOIL SEASON 2 RENEWAL STATUS
The first season of Lycoris Recoil premiered on 2nd July 2022, and as of writing, the anime is currently ongoing, with eight episodes out of thirteen already finished airing.
As of writing,there is no official information or update on the renewal status of Lycoris Recoil season 2.
There are many factors the studio considers before renewing for a new season like source material, disc sales, and domestic and international viewership. Considering Lycoris Recoil is an original creation, the studio will take its time by looking at the above factors and then make a decision.

LYCORIS RECOIL MANGA AND LIGHT NOVEL ADAPTION
On 5th August 2022, Kadowaka announced Lycoris Recoil manga adaption by Yasunori Bizen(authored and illustrated the Towa no Quon manga) would begin serialization in Comic Flapper from 5th September 2022.
Lycoris Recoil manga sales will also affect the renewal of Lycoris Recoil season 2. The first season will culminate on 24th September 2022, and it remains to be seen in which narrative the final episode will end.
Currently, the source material for the manga will be the anime, but if the creators finish on a high and with a cliffhanger, viewers would be more excited to buy the manga to find out what happened after season one.
Similarly, a light novel titled Lycoris Recoil: Ordinary Days by Asaura is also set to be adapted and will be serialized in Dengeki Deunko from 9th September 2022.
Currently, the light novel is set to run for 344 pages and will detail the daily lives of Chisato and Takina. There is already a huge demand for the light novel, as evidenced by its high orders. As a result, Kadokawa had begun reprinting the light novel again, and the company termed the occasion “unprecedented.”
Furthermore, Lycoris Recoil got a famous fan when mangaka Hideo Kojima ( Metal Gear and Death Stranding) praised the series on his Twitter.
Amusingly, Kojima thought the anime was titled Lycoris Pizza and became an immediate fan of the premise of a girl using a coffee shop as a front to assassinate her targets.
Following the tweets, Kojima was contacted by Lycoris Recoil s’ creators to endorse the series. His comments on the anime are set to be featured and printed on the cover of the upcoming spin-off light novel.
Kojima s’ assistant Ayako Terashima also confirmed that Kojima receives many requests for endorsements but only accepts those which he likes himself.
