Marginal Service Season 2: Renewal Status + Release Date Predictions

Marginal Service Season 2, will it happen?

Although most animes are based on mangas are light novels, the scope of studios producing original series has grown rapidly in recent times.

Original animes such as Yuri on Ice, Psycho-Pass, Anohana, and Death Parade have become cult classics with great appreciation from the fandom.

While original works are still a rarity, one such anime was privy to the Spring 2023 slate as Studio 3Hz s’ production, The Marginal Service, hit the small screens.

The premise is set in a world wherein Aliens, after attacking humans, have taken Earth as their new abode.

These aliens are called Borderlanders as they live masquerading from everyone and coexist peacefully with humans.

The narrative revolves around Brian Nightraider, a former police officer whose dismissal from the force was attributed to his rash conduct. He receives a call from the United Nations Immigration Bureau Special Investigation Unit, propelling him into a new chapter of his career.

He is recruited into a secret branch called Marginal Service and is tasked to handle a Borderlanders s’ terrorist organization, which manufactures a dangerous drug called Confu.

Despite the Borderlanders s’ ability to blend with humans, the Marginal Service group isn’t one to step back and have their work cut out.

Can the underground group eliminate the terrorist organization as their work exposes new figures is the central plot of the show.

The first season of Marginal Service, an action series, received below-average ratings. However, fans of the show are now curious to know if there will be a second installment.

Marginal Service Season One was aired from 12th April 2023 to 28th June 2023 for 12 episodes.

As of the time of writing, there has been no communication from Studio 3Hz regarding the potential renewal of Marginal Service Season 2.

Marginal Service Season 2Yet to be Announced

As mentioned earlier, Marginal Service Season One was underwhelming and failed to impress fans as well as critics.

The major criticism seems to be labeled as the desperate attempt by the studio to cater to the Western audience by including references from Die Hard and Men in Black.

While the anime does have an interesting premise and decent production quality, the execution of the storyline and character development is forgetful.

What’s surprising is that Studio 3Hz came up with another original series called Healer Girl in Spring 202, which was a relative success, but Marginal Service failed to follow suit.

When considering the renewal of a project, it’s important to take into account not only the reviews and ratings, but also the availability of studio and source material. This factor can have a significant impact on the decision-making process.

With the anime being an original work, there is no source material like Marginal Service manga or light novel for the creators.

Currently, studio 3Hz has not listed any new projects for 2023, but looking at the past release schedule, the studio operates on one anime per year policy.

Furthermore, due to its limited production capacity, the studio has yet to produce a sequel for any of its past releases.

All in All, considering the poor reviews and the anime being an original work coupled with the studio s’ schedule, it’s highly unlikely that Marginal Service Season 2 will happen.

Hence, expecting any updates on Marginal Service Season 2 trailer and Marginal Service Season 2 release date could be a pointless wait.

MARGINAL SERVICE SEASON 2 PLOT

In the final episode of Marginal Service Season One, “Shitty World Will, in Fact, Come to an End,” the entire squad assembles to support each other.

The Marginal Service has formed a collaboration with Rubber Suit and his own service to address the global crisis at hand. This comprehensive partnership aims to make a significant impact in saving the world.

In the UN hideout, they help Zeno find his son and assist Brian with the MSS s’ assault, who is revealed to be the perpetrator behind the kid’s abductions.

The plan involves extracting alien ships from the base and sending another batch to invade Earth.

Zeno and Brian were able to amicably resolve their conflicts, which resulted in their collaborative efforts to ensure the safety of all individuals on Earth. Their reckless support resulted in a new bond between them, which helped them work towards a common goal.

The humans and Borderlanders are bought against a common enemy, with Zeno disguising his helping Brian as “I won’t let you die alone” but then saving him as it revealed he had a parachute the whole time.

Since there is no source material available, it’s up to imagination and discretion on what will happen in Marginal Service Season 2.

The line between Humans and Borderlands has certainly grown closer, but new enemies will crop up from space to soil the relations.

The series, despite its marginal service, displays immense potential with its well-crafted plot, intricate substories, diverse themes in every episode, profound message about equality, and an array of intriguing characters.

Studio 3Hz doesn’t do renewals, especially when it comes to original work thus, Marginal Service Season 2 might not be greenlit anytime soon.
