The story follows high schooler Takeru Shirogane, who wakes up from a nightmare that is nothing but a recollection of his life in an alternative universe.
In these memories, a project called Alternative IV is being implemented wherein several humans are being sent to outer space to escape the calamity while leaving fate.
Determined to change the future, Takeru joins the military base in Yokohama, where he meets the commander of Alternative IV, Professor Yuuko Kouzuki, and convinces him to stop the project.
To ensure the success of the mission, Takeru must learn to pilot humanoid machines and tactical Surface Fighters alongside other cadets.
Can Takeru save the world’s fate with his knowledge of the future is the central plot of the show.
Muv-Luv Alternative has been received with mixed reviews however, fans who enjoyed the show were wondering if there will be a third installment or not.

Muv-Luv Alternative Season One aired from 7th October 2021 to 23rd December 2021 for 12 episodes.
After the success of the first season, the second season was renewed for 12 episodes from 6th October 2022 to 22nd December 2022.
On 21st December 2022, prior to the finale of Muv-Luv Alternative Season 2, the creators announced that it would be the last installment in the series, but the original work will continue with a plugin for their Steam sale.

Although the creators have announced that the second season was the final installment however, if Muv-Luv Alternative Season 3 was greenlit, then it would most likely adapt the story’s third section, “The Final Decision.”
This section of the novel is the most exciting and thrilling since it details the climactic combat between the human forces and the BETA.
Muv-Luv Alternative Season 3 would have started with a strong attack on BETA strongholds by human forces.
The human forces launch an attack, but they are met with strong resistance and suffer huge losses.
It is becoming increasingly clear that the human forces are losing, so they’re making a last-ditch effort to win the conflict.
The human forces win in the end, but at a terrible price. The fight claims the lives of many of the important characters and leaves the world in ruins.
The win, however, shows that humanity can triumph over even the gravest of challenges, and this is cause for excitement about the future.
