The Japanese anime Plunderer Season 2 hasn’t been confirmed yet, but here’s everything we know so far about its possible release date and synopsis.

The Japanese Manga, the Plunderer, was written and illustrated by Suu Minazuki. The manga series was serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s magazine named ‘Monthly Shōnen Ace’ in the year 2014. The manga series was adapted to manga by Geek Toys Studio, and it released its first season in January 2020 with 24 episodes. The first opening theme for 1 to 11 episodes is ‘Plunderer‘ by the voice actress Miku Itō whereas the first ending theme is ‘Countless Days’ by Rina Honnizumi. The second opening theme for 12 to 24 episodes is “Kokou no Hikari Lonely dark” by Itō Miku, whereas the second ending theme was ‘Reason of Life’ by Honnizumi Rina Ozawa Ari and Itō Shizuka.
In the Japanese anime, a world name Alcia is governed by ‘Count’, the numbers which are engraved on a human’s body. These numbers represent the life of that individual. Everything is defined by that number, for example, their social status, power, etc. However, if the Count of an individual decrease to Zero, that individual will be dragged into ‘the Abyss’, where that person is said to be dead for all eternity.
The main character in Plunderer anime is ‘Hina’, a traveller whose Count is based on the distance she has travelled. She witnessed her mother being dragged to the ‘Abyss’, and to fulfil her wishes; she started a journey to a legendary place, Aces. The anime entails the travel of Hina and all the hurdles that come while fulfilling her mother’s wishes.
Will There Ever Be Plunderer Season 2?
The anime, Plunderer, is based on the manga series directed by Hiroyuki Kanbe. The number of seasons an anime can release is primarily dependent upon the source material and then its popularity.
The manga series entails 18 volumes until now, and it is still ongoing. So, for the Studio Geek Toys, there is enough material for Plunderer Season 2 to be released. There is a possibility that the Plunderer anime will be renewed for the second instalment as the first season received a great response from the whole world.
The anime was not only released in its native language, Japanese, but also licensed for the English translation to be available worldwide. FunimationNow has streamed the anime series in English speaking regions and also premiered two episodes on YouTube in many countries. As the response for season 1 was positive, there is a possibility that Plunderer Season 2 might be announced anytime soon.
Plunderer Season 2 Release Date
The Japanese anime, Plunderer Season 1, aired from January 2020 till June 2020 with 24 episodes of amazing action and storyline. There hasn’t been any news about the Plunderer Season 2, and with no official announcement, there is no Plunderer Season 2 release date.
The Plunderer Season 2 would have been released in 2021, but it’s past that now and no hint has been shared for the renewal for the second instalment. However, the delay might be caused by the global pandemic, and we can hear the Plunderer anime Season 2 announcement in late 2022.
Plunderer Season 2 Plot Summary
The anime plotline is set in a dystopian world where everyone is overwhelmed by Count Numbers which are engraved somewhere on their bodies. Each individual’s value is estimated by the numbers, and they define one’s life. The main character Hina is a traveller whose Count is defined by the number of the distance she has travelled.
Hina travels to a legendary place to fulfil her mother’s wishes, where she encounters an unusual knight named Licht Bach, who have a negative numbered Count. Season 1 of Plunderer anime ended with Licht, Hina and their allies planning on gathering original ballots to take the majority vote. According to the vote, the decision to aim for the wall of paradise will be taken.
The Plunderer Season 1 covered the content of the manga series from volume 1 to volume 9. The Plunderer Season 2 would probably pick up from Volume 10, Chapter 38.
