Return Of Gamora in Guardian Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Is Setting Up A Multiverse Disaster
The decision to include Zoe Saldana’s Gamora character in the upcoming Guardian Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 film is a significant step that could have serious implications for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly in relation to potential multiverse-related events.
The reappearance of Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 can create a catastrophic multiverse event for the superheroes in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and beyond. Despite Gamora’s death in Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel resurrected the character through time travel in Avengers: Endgame.
Although a new version of Gamora exists in the MCU, this version has experienced different adventures than the original Gamora, a Guardians of the Galaxy member.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Gamora Must Be Responsible For An Incursion
Following the time travel events in Endgame, the Multiverse Saga brought the concept of incursions into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These occur when extended multiversal travel causes multiple realities to collide, likely destroying one or more universes.
The idea of incursions was first introduced in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and expanded upon in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and it will likely play a bigger role in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars. However, Gamora’s return in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 could also potentially bring up the concept of incursions again, as her presence represents a notable deviation in the MCU timeline.
It was believed that the version of Gamora in the MCU’s Earth-616 would cease to exist when she died in Avengers: Infinity War. Therefore, the presence of a variant of Gamora in the primary MCU reality is concerning.
The upcoming Phase 5 film will be the final installment for the current Guardians group, who primarily operate independently from the rest of the MCU. As a result, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 may not focus extensively on incursions, instead concentrating on the family dynamics within the team.

For instance, in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home, a part of the Venom symbiote remained behind, while Vulture, a Spider-Man villain, was stuck in Sony’s Spider-Man universe in Morbius.

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wanda Maximoff entered her variant’s body through a dream and killed the Illuminati team of Earth-838, which had a significant impact. However, Doctor Strange was also responsible for an incursion, as confirmed by Clea.
Marvel is leading up to a significant event that will alter the MCU’s structure indefinitely. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, due to the inclusion of Gamora, ma the next phase in the progression toward a major incursion.

The trailer suggests that the movie might begin with Gamora separated from the Guardians, but they reunite by the end of the film to face off against the High Evolutionary, the main villain.
Although there are hints about the fate of the 2014 Gamora, it remains to be seen what will happen to this version of the character, which is significantly different from the one that Star-Lord cared for. Actress Zoe Saldaña has suggested in interviews that the new Gamora in the MCU may have more similarities with her adoptive father, Thanos, than with her “future” teammates.
