Spy x Family Season 2 to hit on Netflix this year; ready for the mission family?
The pages of shonen jump have long played host to some of the most memorable animes like Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, Demon Slayer, etc., and now a new face joins this elite list which has soared it is way to anime glory; yes folks we are talking about Spy X Family.
Spy x Family is a spy-action-comedy Japanese anime based on its namesake manga written and illustrated by Tatsuya Tendo.
The show is set in a world where two nations, Westalis and Ostania, oppose each other. To maintain peace, Westalis has sent a spy named “Twilight” to track the leader of Ostania, Donovan Desmond.
Upon arriving in Ostania, “Twilight” takes on the name of Lord Forger and begins setting up for his mission. Loid realizes to spy on Donovan, he must get close to his son, who studies at the Eden Academy.
Loid recruits Anya, an orphan child with telepathic powers, for this purpose but to enroll her into the school; he must need a wife. Fortunately, he comes across Yor Briar, an assassin who agrees to team up for mutual benefits.
Can the make-believe family succeed in their mission, and how do these pretentious relations affect the character dynamic is the central plot of the show.
The anime community has been overtaken by the show s’ innate appeal coupled with dark and PG-13 comic moments. Spy x Family season one part 1 has concluded and quickly risen to become one of the biggest anime this spring.

WHAT IS THE SPY X FAMILY PART 2 RELEASE DATE?
The first part of Spy x Family, part one, aired from 9th April 2022 to 25th June 2022 for a 12-episode run.
After completing the first part, the show was promptly renewed for Spy x Family part 2. The renewal announcement was followed by a trailer for the second part, which is scheduled to premiere in October 2022.
As of writing, there is no official update on Spy x Family part 2 release date, but looking at the first part premiere date, we can assume the second part to drop on 9th October 2022 as well.
We want to remind the readers that it’s not officially a second season but part 2 of season one, and it was rumored that the first season would have 25 episodes; hence, part two will most likely contain 13 episodes.
Netflix Asia will be streaming the second part of Spy x Family. Still, viewers outside Asia won’t be able to watch it on Netflix, as the streaming site doesn’t have a license for making it available outside Asia.
Crunchyroll and Hulu are the alternatives for the viewers in the USA and Europe.
SPY X FAMILY MANGA CATCHUP
Spy x Family manga is written and illustrated by Tatsuya Tendo, and it began serialization on Shonen Jump on 25th March 2019.
As of writing, the manga has been collected into nine volumes or 63 chapters, with the latest issue coming out on 4th April 2022.
Spy x Family anime adapted the first three volumes or 17 chapters of the manga with an extra mission and short mission covered in the 12th episode, i.e., the Penguin Park. So, if you can’t wait any longer, pick up the manga from chapter 18 to find out what happens after season one.
Despite only having nine volumes, the Spy x family manga has sold over 21 million copies as of June 2022.
To put those numbers into perspective, popular titles like Food Wars with 36 volumes have sold 20 million copies and concluded manga such as Assassination Classroom with 21 volumes had sold a total of 25 million.
The anime is the primary reason for the rise in sales, as before the show, s’ the premier manga only sold 12.5 million copies in April 2022. Fast forward to 2 months and a 68% jump in the sale, saw the manga selling 8.5 million i.e., i.e., 368,00 copies sold per month.
If you look at the anime rating below, it reveals the stellar job done by Wit Studios and Cloverworks, as we rarely see the show having a higher rating than the source material.

SPY X FAMILY PART 2 PLOT
In the final episode of Spy x Family Season 2, we find the forger family visiting the Berlin Aquarium by pretending to the neighbors as a happy family.
During the visit, they are sidetracked into a mission to get back a penguin plushie that contains a smuggled chemical weapon.
The forger family manages to retrieve the hazardous substance and catch its recipient. The episode ends with Loid and Yor forced to enact a spy mission outside on the demand of the crying Anya.
Spy x Family season 2 will start from volume four of the manga, whose synopsis reads as follows:
Master spy Twilight is the best at what he does when it comes to going undercover on dangerous missions in the name of a better world. But when he receives the ultimate impossible assignment—get married and have a kid—he may finally be in over his head!
The Forgers look into adding a dog to their family, but this is no easy task—especially when Twilight has to simultaneously foil an assassination plot against a foreign minister! The perpetrators plan to use specially trained dogs for the attack, but Twilight gets some unexpected help to stop these terrorists.
Apart from the new addition, the second part should explore the loose threads from part one. For starters, we haven’t seen Anya in a mission that could be resolved in Season 2 as she would require to set a play date for Bond and Damian s’ dog, Max.
Speaking of Damian, his crush on Anya will be interesting to see as both of them will be working on an origami project which, of course, goes wrong, leading to many hysterical moments.
Yuri was briefly introduced in the first part as Loid s real brother; we expect him to play a much more significant role considering he will be tutoring Anya.
