The Witcher Series, released on Netflix in the year 2019, has become one of the most viewed series on Netflix. The basis of the series is the Witcher books which are originally written in Polish by Andrzej Sapkowski. The Series on Netflix is the English version of the Polish books.
The Witcher books are quite popular in the world on the basis of which video games, card games, and many things have been created. The Witcher books have a different fanbase and one of which is the leading actor himself, Henry Cavill. Henry mentioned his love for the Witcher novels, and played the role of the same, Geralt of Rivia, has grown on him. The other main characters are Yennefer of Vengerberg, a powerful mage, played by the actress Anya Chalotra, and Princess Cirilla of Cintra, a child surprise, played by Freya Allan.
Among the leading cast, there are a few supporting characters whose role in the Witcher World is quite important. One of them is Mother Nenneke, played by Adjoa Andoh. This character entered the series in Witcher Season 2 and helped Geralt and Ciri hide from the evil in her temple. Adjoa Andoh is a British film, television, stage, and radio actress who played the guest role of Mother Nenneke. She is currently popular for her role as Lady Danbury in the Bridgeton series and her role in the popular series Doctor Who.
The Witcher Season 3 filming process started on April 4, which revealed the new faces which will be added to the Witcher World. However, the possibility of Mother Nenneke returning in the Witcher Season 3 is very low.
In an interview with Adjoa Andoh with Radio Times, she talks about the uncertainty of the character’s return in the upcoming season. She says, “Yeah, I don’t know. We’ll see. The books are so huge. And they’ve gone so many different ways in the stories. Nenneke is in the books a lot. But it depends what they want to do with, you know, this version of it. It’s totally about what the creators of the show want to do with the material from the books and how they want to swing that, and so we’ll wait and see.”
The actress talks about her feelings that she enjoyed the time with Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan. If Witcher Season 3 were to include this character, the showrunner might have to compress and rearrange the events accordingly. The relationship between Geralt and Nenneke was amazing, so it won’t be surprising if Nenneke returns to explain Geralt’s backstory.
The Witcher Season 3 would be based on the book Time of Contempt, in which the character appears, so there is material for Nenneke’s role. However, the actress Adjoa Andoh would be busy with Bridgeton next seasons 3 and 4.
