Like it or not, Isekai animes have been pumped out in large numbers over the last decade. The popularity has only grown, which has given limitless options for anyone who is a fan of this genre.
Amongst the many options released in Spring 2019 was Tsuyoshi Yoshioka s’ light novel adaption of Wise man’s Grandchild by Silver Link studios.
The plot follows an ordinary man named Shin who reincarnates into a magical world and soon finds himself as the orphan child of the wizard Merlin Wolford.
Merlin raises Shin as his Grandchild and teaches him all the magical abilities and techniques he has learned over the years. Amazingly, Shin masters Merlin s’ teaching of magic and martial arts at a rapid speed which leaves the veteran wizard in wonderment.
Unfortunately, despite Merlin s’ expertise, he could not teach Shin basic etiquette and common sense. Shin lacks in taking responsibility and often faces social awkwardness.
To remedy the situation, Merlin enrolls Shin into the capital’s Magical Academy, which should allow him to mingle with people of his age group and eventually develop common sense.
Although Shin strives to lead a normal life, his prodigy aptitude takes over the school as he becomes a local celebrity.Wise man’s Grandchild follows the Highschool life of shin as he tries to make new friends and fight monsters to save the city.
The series wasn’t hit by any sort as it generally received a polarizing response over the repetitive premise and generic isekai tropes. While Wise man’s Grandchild did have some good aspects, like romance not turning into Harem, it failed to do anything new.

WHAT IS THE WISE MAN’S GRANDCHILD SEASON 2 RELEASE DATE?
Wise man’s Grandchild season one aired from 10th April 2019 to 26th June 2019 for 12 episodes.
As of writing, there is no information from Silver Link studios on the renewal of Wise man’s Grandchild season 2.
Silver Link is a popular production studio for the isekai series like The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat and Misfit of Demon King Academy.
Furthermore, the above two mentioned isekai animes are among the few series to demand a sequel by Silver Link Studios due to their financial success.
The series isn’t canceled as of now; however, looking at the financial performance of Wise man’s Grandchild (refer to sales and profit section), it is highly unlikely that Wise man’s Grandchild will be renewed for a second season.
But by some miracle, creators do have a change of heart and decide to bring it back, in that case, we can expect Wise man’s Grandchild season 2 trailer and Wise man’s Grandchild season 2 release date to drop on Summer 2023.

Wise man’s Grandchild light novel is written by Tsuyoshi Yoshioka and illustrated by Seiji Kikuchi. It was serialized on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website and later began publishing in Famitsu Bunko in July 2015.
The light novel has been released in 16 different volumes, with the latest issue coming out on 28th February 2022.

WISE MAN’S GRANDCHILD PROFIT, SALES, AND POPULARITY
Studios analyze various performance and financial metrics before considering any series for renewal. After all, money is the main motivator behind creating a successful anime franchise.
Blu-ray, manga, light novel, merchandising, and video game sales usually account for profits. Let’s take a look at each and find out if the series demands a renewal or not.
Firstly, the source material for the anime is the light novel which only sold 10,000 copies on average. To put that number into perspective, Accel World has sold over 50,000 copies and is yet to get a renewal announcement.
However, Japan’s latest light novel volume, released on March 2022, was ranked 5th in Top Best-Selling Light Novels Series from 28th February to 6th March 2022.
Wise man’s Grandchild manga edged the light novel with 100,000 copies of the 15th Volume and Volume 18, selling over 80,000 copies.
According to Famitsu Bunko, Both the light novel and manga have sold over 3 million copies and were also placed first in Japan’s Sales ranking.
Moving on to Disc Sales, the series only managed to sell 900 copies which is below average.
A mobile game was also released in 2020 but failed to generate any meaningful income as it made only 10,000 $ in April 2021. Usually, video games based on animes manage around 100,000 $ per month.
While isekai animes often generate a massive buzz before their release or renewal, the same can’t be said for Wise man’s Grandchild season 2.
During the last weeks of Wise man’s Grandchild, the series took a massive hit in popularity after dropping from 3rd Place to 15th in Anitrendz Spring 2019 rankings. It was also listed as one of the Worst Animes of Spring 2019, according to AnimeNewsNetwork.
Overall, neither the sales nor popularity is big enough to demand Wise man’s Grandchild season 2.
WISE MAN’S GRANDCHILD SEASON 2 PLOT
In Wise man’s grandchild season one’s final episode, “And So, Off into the World.”, we saw Shin and his friends preparing to fight Strom and his demons.
A coalition plan is hatched with other countries by the Earlshide Kingdom to fend off Demonoids.
The plan was bought into action by August and shin, which requested other kingdom to join the coalition. The alliance will also help Shin teleport to the kingdom under attack and save them.
The first season only covered three volumes from the light novel, and Wise man’s Grandchild season 2 will begin by adapting the fourth volume.
The Earlshide Kingdom and Bluesphere Empire will finally go into war as Schtrom s’ revealed to be the puppet master controlling everyone.
A short beach vacation will also be on the cards that will feature some fanservice scenes. Shin will be crowned King of Magicians Demon Lord, which leaves him unamused.
