Wong: 7 Places He Can Show Up Next In The MCU
The character from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wong, has now become one of the favorite characters of fans. Here are a few places where the Supreme Sorcerer can show up next.
Wong, the current Supreme Sorcerer, played by Benedict Wong, last appeared in the premiere of Doctor Strange 2. Wong made his debut in MCU via Doctor Strange’s first premiere, released in 2016. He started as a librarian of Kamar-Taj and met Strange when he entered that place to heal himself. The former librarian was murdered by one of the leading villains of the film, Kaecilius.
In the Avengers: Infinity War, Wong stayed with Iron Man and Doctor Strange protecting the Time Stone from Thanos. And in the Avengers: Endgame, helped them fight with Thanos after the Blip.
In another premiere, his presence was shown with Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, wherein in one of the post-credits scenes, he was shown. The most important of all, Wong’s actions in the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have resulted in the increase of his importance in the hearts of fans. With so many projects of Marvel Studios planned to be released, fans are hoping to see their favorite Sorcerer once again.
7. Shang-Chi 2
One of the best new superhero movies in MCU is Shang-Chi, and the Legend of The Ten Rings proved to be a surprise hit for Marvel Studios. As a result, the superhero Shang-Chi has been confirmed with another sequel whose plot is unknown for now.
To hear this news, the fans were excited and couldn’t wait to see Wong, the Supreme Sorcerer returning to Shang-Chi. The presence of Wong in Shang-Chi is going to serve as a connection of that superhero with MCU. In the sequel, it would be amazing to see Wong on the side of Shang-Chi, as they both seemed to surprisingly bond during their first encounter.
6. Avengers 5
Phase four of MCU has included a lot of new superheroes to the franchise, and quite of few of them retired or died during their efforts to save the people of Earth. However, to look on the bright side, plenty of new characters will be joining the team of Avengers to deal with universal-level threats.
The next part of Avengers hasn’t been given a title so far; no cast or a release date. But the fifth entry in Avengers seems to be inevitable, which comes bearing many hopes. And it’s for sure that Wong’s presence in Avenger’s fifth installment will be expected, as he was there in the last two. Wong and Doctor Strange are not particularly considered ‘Avengers’ per se, but their connection with the group is undeniable. Notably, Wong’s events in Shang-Chi have made him closer to Avengers as compared to Doctor Strange.
5. She-Hulk
Another exciting endeavor of phase four is the adventure of Tatiana Maslany entering MCU as She-Hulk. Disney+ is going to be the distributor of the She-Hulk series, which is rumored to be released in the summer sometime. Not a lot has been known about the plot of She-Hulk, but some of the characters have been confirmed, which are Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, aka Hulk, and Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky, aka The Abomination.
The series, She-Hulk, doesn’t seem to be that kind in which a sorcerer would be involved, but the inclusion of The Abomination states otherwise. The character was last seen in Shang-Chi, where he was competing in a cage against Wong. These two characters seem to have a continuing camaraderie amidst this scene, which indicates that where The Abomination will be shown next, Wong will be present.
4. The Thunderbolts
The Marvel fans are wondering about the MCU’s plans for setting up a Thunderbolts lineup for its future phases as some of the characters are already introduced like Baron Zemo, USAgent, Yelena Belova, and Taskmaster, and many more over the last few years. The appearances of Julia Louis-Dreyfuss are gathering up many extraordinary people, and the likelihood of the Thunderbolts team is getting strong.
However, Wong won’t be included in the group of Anti-heroes, but his friend The Abomination can, and with him, the chances of Wong appearing in Thunderbolts increase. A possibility can be that Wong is in a government project responsible for bringing these people together in a group.
3. Loki Season 2
The series on Disney+, Loki, is so far the only series so far whose second season has been confirmed. Although there hasn’t been any information about its release, it is expected around the time of Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, the next installment of the Ant-Man franchise. So the, Loki Season 2 can come out early in 2023 as the premiere is set to be released in February.
When Loki and his friend return to the TVA, they will be going up against Kang The Conqueror, as Kang is the all-powerful villain shown in Loki Series. Kang also has some ties to the mystic arts, and Loki and his team might need Wong’s help to go against Kang.
2. Doctor Strange 3
The premiere of phase four, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, ended with some of the shocking events for MCU leaving infinite possibilities for the future of fans’ favorite characters. The next installment hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, but it seems inevitable because of the post-credits scenes.
When Doctor Strange 3 is released, it would be incomplete if the Supreme Sorcerer won’t be present in it. As the character, Wong has become a staple of the franchise because of which his presence would have a great advantage for the story. Well, it has been a few days since the release of Doctor Strange 2, so the next one is going to be several years away.
1. Spin-off Series
When Wong was first introduced to the MCU in the premiere, Doctor Strange, Marvel Studios had no idea how popular he would become in the following years. His presence in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, has attracted a huge fan base. And the fans have begun the petition for Wong’s very own series on Disney+.
Now instead of Doctor Strange, Wong is the official Supreme Sorcerer, so the possibility of his potential spin-offs increases. If Marvel can, they could start from the five years of a blip during the time between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, focusing on his post-Decimation world, which would make an interesting plotline. We can only hope for Wong’s own spin-off series, as the character has kept himself busy since the Blip.
