One such series which took the community by storm is the Winter 2023 release Buddy Daddies by studio P.A. Works.
The story follows two professional assassins, Kazuki Kurusu and Rei Suwa, who are also best friends. Kazuki is 28 years old and specializes in collecting intel and executing the plan.
He is a good communicator while also being proficient in cooking and cleaning. From time to time, Kazuki also enjoys the company of women and loves gambling.
Rei is a man of few words but is an expert shooter and remains focused on his mission. In his free time, Rei is a shut-in and prefers to spend his days playing video games.
During a dangerous mission of executing a mafia bass, the pair meet a four-year-old girl Miri Unasakaa who has been sent away by her mother to meet her long-lost father.
Rei and Kazuki end up bringing Miri home as she incidentally was the daughter of their assassination target. They become her guardians, and Miri also begins calling them affectionally as ‘papas.’
Now it’s up to the two assassins to raise Miri, which is much more challenging than their high-risk jobs.
How Rei and Kazuki s’ life change upon Miri s’ entrance as she penetrates their stoic hearts is the central plot of the show.
Buddy Daddies Season one was a massive success as fans enjoyed the wholesome moments of the trio.

Production studios consider various commercial and financial metrics before announcing a renewal.
As mentioned earlier, Buddy Daddies Season one was received with an incredibly positive response from critics and fans.
Despite many critical about the story s’ premise being like Spy x Family, post the first episode, all clouds of criticism were dispersed as the show featured its own individuality.
Not only the characters have unique personalities but also are tied through emotional backstories which builds interesting personal dynamics.
Many even considered Buddy Daddies to be a better and light-hearted version of Spy x Family, which is highly acclamatory considering the spy series was voted as the Best New Series at Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2023.

While the reviews and ratings are positive, a crucial factor for renewal will be the availability of the studio.
Studio P.A. Works isn’t a big production house but has made some popular series like Gurren Lagann(2007), Wolf Children(2012), Another(2012), and My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising(2019).
However, P.A. Works isn’t exactly known for producing sequels, with the last renewal coming way back in 2017 for The Eccentric Family season 2.
Currently, the studio has scheduled Skip and Loafer to release on 4th April 2023, post which there haven’t been any new projects announced.
Some studios prefer to announce a renewal before the finale of season one however, no such update for Buddy Daddies season 2.
Additionally, with the series being an original work with no source material like Buddy Daddies manga, it takes much longer to produce a sequel. Consequently, it is unlikely Buddy Daddies season 2 will happen any time soon.
Assuming the studio does renew for a sequel by the end of this year, we can expect Buddy Daddies Season 2 trailer and Buddy Daddies Season 2 release date by late 2024.

Buddy Daddies is directed by Yoshiyuki Asai with series composition by Vio Shimokura and Yuuko Kakihara.
Characters are designed by Souichiro Sako, who also serves as chief animation director alongside Sanae Sato.
The music is composed by Katsutoshi Kitagawa, and the music is directed by Satoki Lida. Hiromi Makino and Shiho Takeucchi set the Art while Naomi Nakano designs the colours.
Animation is produced by studio P.A. Works and series editing by Ayumi Takashi.
The opening theme song is “Shock!” by Ayase, while the ending theme song is “My Plan” by DURDN.
