Cells At Work Season 3: Release Date, Cast, Plot, Updates, And Everything You Know!
Cells At Work Season 3, will it ever happen?
Animes with unique concepts are always welcome within the fandom, and Cells At Work is one of those series that fits that specific description.
Cells At Work is the anime adaption of Akane Shimizu s’ manga series, Hataraku Saibou, which premiered in the Summer 2018 season.
The premise is set inside the human body, where 37.2 trillion cells work tirelessly throughout the year to keep it healthy.
The plot follows two anthropomorphic fresh out of training cells, i.e., a rookie red blood cell, AE3803, and a blood cell, U-1146.
AE3803 is handed the important task of transporting oxygen, while U-1146 is responsible for patrolling and eliminating harmful bacteria trying to invade the body. Meanwhile, platelets act to stop bleeding and heal wounds.
Cells At Work shows the daily lives of these cells as they act together while bickering with other cell types to keep the body healthy.
Cells at Work has been a massive success, but after the conclusion of season two, fans are wondering if there will be a third installment or not.
To find the answer, keep scrolling as we bring you all the latest news and updates on Cells At Work Season 3.
Cells At Work is rated 7.5/10 and ranked #1497 with 623k members on MyAnimeList

SEASON | RELEASE DATE |
Cells At Work Season 1 | 8th July 2018 |
Cells At Work Season 2 | 9th January 2021 |
Cells At Work Season 3 | Yet to be Announced |
Production studios consider various financial and commercial metrics before announcing a renewal.
Financially, the Blu-ray discs sold around 8,000 units with a popularity score of 88.8% from various broadcasting platforms.
As mentioned earlier, Cells At Work is a popular comedy series and was also one of the top-rated animes of Summer 2018.
If you look at the second season s’ IMDB rating, there is no doubt fans were engaged throughout its run.
EPISODE | RATING |
Cells At Work Episode 1 | 7.1 |

Cells At Work Episode 3 | 6.6 |
Cells At Work Episode 4 | 6.8 |

While the reviews, ratings, and profits are favorable, a crucial factor will be the availability of studio and source material.
Unfortunately, both the seasons covered 25 of the available 30 chapters from the Hataraku Saibou manga.
This leaves behind only five chapters for a potential Cells At Work Season 3, which is safe to say will not be enough.
Furthermore, David Productions has new anime, i.e., Undead Unluck, scheduled to release later this year; hence the studio is occupied as well.
All in all, it’s unlikely that Cells At Work Season 3 will be happening, and hence it could be futile waiting for any updates on the Cells At Work Season 3 trailer and the Cells At Work Season 3 release date.
HATARAKU SAIBOU MANGA CATCHUP
Hataraku Saibou manga is written and illustrated by Akane Shimizu. It was serialized in Kodansha’s shōnen manga magazine Monthly Shōnen Sirius from 25th January 2015 to 26th January 2021.
The manga has been collected into six volumes, with the latest issue released on 26th January 2021.
CELLS AT WORK SEASON 3 PLOT
The only potential way for Cell at Work to return is by adapting the spin-off manga series, which remains popular among the readers.
Check out the title, release date, and no. of volumes information below:
Cells at Work! Code Black | June 7, 2018 – January 21, 2021 | 8 Volumes |
Cells at Work!: Bacteria! | May 2017 – August 2020 | 7 Volumes |
Cells NOT at Work! | July 26, 2017 – present | 4 Volumes |
Cells at Work and Friends! | January 12, 2019 – present | 5 Volumes |
Cells at Work!: Platelets! | May 25, 2019 – present | 3 Volumes |
Cells at Work!: Baby! | October 17, 2019 – present | 3 Volumes |
Cells at Work!: Lady! | January 22, 2020 – present | 2 Volumes |
Cells at Work!: WHITE | October 26, 2020 – present | 1 Volume |
If creators choose, they can also adapt the remaining sixth volume, which covers induced pluripotent stem cells and even COVID-19.
Hataraku Saibou Season 3 characters White Blood Cell, Red Blood Cell, Macrophage, and the cute little Platelets face a threat unlike any they have ever dealt with before COVID-19! But even this threat can be defeated as long as everyone works together.
The uplifting and informative series comes to a close with one last tour of the hardworking body, featuring “left shift” in the blood, retinal degeneration, and a simple bump on the noggin. But, of course, as long as there’s a job to do, this team won’t quit!
Cells At Work! Friend is probably the best way to extend the main anime series since it features side stories set in the original body.
At the same time, the newer manga features a fearsome Killer T Cell as its main protagonist, so it may be released as a standalone anime title.
