The Fantasy genre has a lot to offer, with a wide range of plotlines and entertaining characters. From the light-hearted to darker series, the fantasy genre also is adaptable, which keeps the viewers entertained with its fantastical elements.
One of the long-running and popular fantasy series is the anime adaption of Fujino Omori’s light novel, DanMachi.
The premise is set in the fictional city of Orario, wherein gods and immortals abandon their mighty powers to experience the toils of common people in the mortal world.
Each god has a support group of people drawn from the city, Familia, who explore the dungeons to collect crystal shards dropped by monsters. These shards are valuable and can be either crafted into magical items or traded for currency.
The story follows the adventures of Bell Cranel, a 14-year-old rookie adventurer and sole member of the Hestia Familia. His idol is the swordsman from the Lokia Familia, Ais Wallenstein, and he vows to become like her.
Destiny has it that Bell gets saved by Ais, and he immediately falls in love with her; however, he is rebuked for being weak by the Loki Familia, which leads to Bell acknowledging his foolishness and weakness.
While Bell vows to get stronger, he is also coveted by the several deities and mortals, including Hestia. Can Bell overcome his demons and become a powerful adventurer is the central plot of the show.
DanMachi has completed its fourth season and still going strong, but fans are now wondering if a fifth season is on the cards or not?

WHAT IS THE DANMACHI SEASON 5 RELEASE DATE?
DanMachi Season one ran from 4th April 2015 to 27th June 2015 for 13 episodes, followed by an OVA titled “Is It Wrong to Expect a Hot Spring in a Dungeon?” which aired on 7th December 2016.
The series was renewed for a second season which ran from 6th July 2019 to 28th September 2019, for 12 episodes, followed by an OVA titled “Is It Wrong to go Searching for Herbs on a Deserted Island?” which aired on 29th January 29th, 2020.
DanMachi Season three ran from 3rd October 2020 to 19th December 2020 for 12 episodes, followed by an OVA titled “Is It Wrong to Try to Find a Hot Spring in Orario? -Bath God Forever-” which aired on 28th December 2021.
The series was renewed for a fourth season, whose first part ran from 21st July 2022 to 29th September 2022 for 11 episodes.
The DanMachi Season 4 Part 2 release date is officially scheduled for January 5, 2023, the Winter 2023 anime season. As of writing, there is no official update or confirmation from studio J.C. Staff on the renewal of DanMachi Season 5.

Danmachi fared well as compared to newer releases such as Lycoris Recoil, My Stepmom‘s Daughter is my EX, Made in Abyss, and RWBY and was ranked #10 in Top 10 Anime of the Week in August 2022.By October 2022, DanMachi was ranked #7 in the Top 10 Anime of the Week in October 2022.
Back when the series was in its first few seasons, the source material was always an issue as the anime caught up with the light novel pretty soon, leading to a four-year gap between seasons one and two.But the problem became less obvious as fans were treated to back-to-back seasons sandwiched between an OVA.
However, the source material issue is back to haunt us again, as there isn’t sufficient left to produce DanMachi Season 5, which will most likely be resolved by 2023.All in All, we can expect DanMachi Season 5 trailer and DanMachi Season 5 release date in 2024.
DANMACHI LIGHT NOVEL AND MANGA CATCHUP
DanMachi light novel is written by Fujino Omori and illustrated by Suzuhito Yasuda. It began publication under the GA Bunko imprint on 15th January 2013, and Yen Press licensed the series in North America under the Yen On imprint in December 2014.
The light novel has been collected into 17 volumes, with the latest issue released on 22nd April 2021 and Volume 18 scheduled to release on 24th January 2023.

DanMachi manga is written by Fujino Omori and illustrated by Kunieda. It began serialization in Young Gangan magazine on 2nd August 2013.
The manga has been collected into ten volumes, with the latest issue released on 25th June 2018.

As of July 2020, the DanMachi series has crossed over 12 million copies in circulation.
DANMACHI SEASON 5 PLOT
In the final episode of season four, “Endless(brutal),” Ryu is defeated by the Juggernaut, but she manages to save Bor. Bell is healed by the mermaid s’ blood and fights back the monster.
In the process of controlling the Juggernaut, Jura is killed while Ryu and Bell are swallowed by the Lambton.
The dungeon collapses, leading to a confrontation on Bell‘s part with the monster on the 27th floor. Bell and Ryu escape the Lambton but arrive at the 37th floor, known infamously as the “White Place.
Danmachi season 4 is expected to end on Volume 15 of the light novel, which means DanMachi Season 5 characters and plotlines will pick up from Volume 16 and cover till Volume 18.
Bell realizes the threat isn’t just limited to the dungeon but also around women as he gets invited at the goddess festive to accompany Syr as her date. Even before Bell can respond, he is kidnapped by Hedin, who is tasked to convince Bell to the festival and also shape him into a gentleman within a week.
Hedin s’ training bears fruit as Bell impresses Syr not just with his behavior but also his bravery when he fights off a thief who tries to steal her handbag.
Despite being well-shaped and coached by Hedin, Bell fails to interact correctly with other women, which leaves Syr frustrated.
Bell lets her know that his ‘master’ didn’t prepare him for such a situation, and consequently, Syr realizes that Bell is dressed like Hedin. While initially shocked at the personal training Bell received, Syr is impressed by Bell s’ efforts to make a date look promising.
Syr forgives him but in exchange asks him to help her escape the Freya Familia. Will Bell be successful in this new mission? We’d have to wait for DanMachi Season 5 to provide the answers.

CONCLUSION
DanMachi Season 5 may not happen anytime soon, but an OVA could be a real possibility.
