Golden Kamuy Season 5 will be the series s’ final season!
Historical Japanese-style animes are massively popular within the fandom, especially if it manages to capture the essence and aftermath of post-war Japan.
The country amidst the war has many stories hidden underneath the torrid times, which have been explored extensively by creators.
The show that does this effortlessly is the anime adaption of Satoru Noda s’ manga series Golden Kamuy.
The show’s premise was set in 1907, wherein Japan was still reeling from its brutal clash with the Russian Empire. In the frigid tundra of Hokkaidō, a desperate war hero Saichi Sugimoto is panning for riches a decade too late.
The gold rush has long subsided , but soon he will find himself embroiled in a much larger treasure hunt with a vast payload that parties are already killing each other over the mere notion of it.
These bloody campaigns, peopled by the insane and the insanely lovable alike, paint Japan’s white north red in search of the gold , and like any good treasure hunt, this one comes with a map.
After being tipped by a drunkard of a golden treasure, Sugimoto finds it hard to believe and laughs it off.
In a bit of misfortune, Sugimoto gets chased down by a bear which kills the drunkard as Sugimoto notices the pieces of the map tattooed on his body. Luckily, he is saved by Asirpa, the Ainu girl who tells her about the treasure.
Asirpa agrees not for the gold but for a chance to avenge his father s’ death, who was killed by the gold miners, and thus begins a journey of revenge and riches.
Golden Kamuy is one of its kind, showing Japan’s historical past and how war heroes turned pariahs’ strife to make ends meet.

WHAT IS THE GOLDEN KAMUY SEASON 5 RELEASE DATE?
The first season of Golden Kamuy ran from 9th April 2018 to 25th June 2018 for 12 episodes. Golden Kamuy season 2 aired from 8th October 2018 to 24th December 2018. The third season of Golden Kamuy ran from 5th October 2020 to 21st December 2020.
On 5th December 2021, a special event renewed the series for a fourth season which premiered on 3rd October 2022 and is currently ongoing.
As of writing, three of the listed thirteen episodes have aired from season four, but there is no information on the renewal of Golden Kamuy Season 5.

Golden Kamuy series changed direction after Geno studios took over from Brain s’ Base.
Looking at the release schedule, it’s evident that it takes two years for creators to drop a new season; however, it’s expected that Golden Kamuy Season 5 will be the series s’ final installment, which could indicate the production is already under work.
Furthermore, Brain Base taking over from the fourth season could also indicate their availability for season 5, and a prompt renewal can also be expected sooner rather than later. If the series gets renewed in early 2023 by a Golden Kamuy season 5 trailer, the Golden Kamuy season 5 release date can be expected as fall 2023.
GOLDEN KAMUY MANGA CATCHUP
Golden Kamuy manga was written and illustrated by Satoru Noda, and it began serialization in Weekly Young Jump on 21st August 2014. The manga has been collected into 31 volumes with 314 chapters, and Volume 31 will be released on 19th July 2022.
Sadly, for the Golden Kamuy manga fans, the series has reached its conclusion, and on 28th April, writer Satoru Noda tweeted confirmed the end of the manga journey.
As of June 2022, the manga has sold over 22 million copies and has been the recipient of many awards.
The anime hasn’t been the most faithful in adapting the manga, but the skipped parts have been turned into OVAs. The first three seasons have used up roughly 200 chapters of the manga, with season three ending on Akou Prison break arc.
With more than 100 chapters remaining, a lack of source material should not be a problem.

GOLDEN KAMUY SEASON 5 PLOT
The fourth season is listed for 13 episodes, which means the finale will end somewhere around the Tokyo Love story Arc, i.e., Volume 28, Chapter 275 from the Golden Kamuy manga.
Judging by the anime’s pacing compared to the manga, it’s predicted Golden Kamuy season 5 will pick up the story after the Sapporo story arc.
To key to solving the tatotted map is the Ainu name of Asirpa s’ father, Horkew Oskoni. A flashback shows the connection of various people with the gold, and their purpose in finding it will also be revealed.
Tsurumi claims to have solved the code and shoots a spy who is spying for the central government. Golden Kamuy Season 5 characters will hopefully receive a satisfactory ending.
