The shocking season finale unfolds with a tragic event, as Aemond and Vhagar brutally kill Rhaenyra’s son, Luke. This marks the first casualty in the civil war following Aegon II’s rise to power.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Glynn-Carney, careful with his words regarding Season Two, expressed his anticipation for his character to have more substantial material to delve into and to create further chaos, something Aegon excels at.
When questioned about Aegon II riding his dragon, Sunfyre, in the upcoming season, Glynn-Carney responded by mentioning their intense training regimen and the necessity to maintain good physical condition for the strenuous demands of Season Two.
Although actual dragon riding is impossible for the actors, the mention of intense warfare and sword fighting suggests the importance of being physically fit for the challenges ahead.

Fans noticed a report from the Spanish newspaper Hoy stating that HBO plans to return to Cáceres, Spain, to film King’s Landing scenes for the second season between March and June 2023.
Since Season 1’s filming reportedly began in April 2021 and premiered in August 2022, the following season may not arrive until 2024.
HBO and HBO Max Content CEO Casey Bloys has mentioned that it is a “good guess” for House of the Dragon to return in 2024, but likely after the eligibility period for the Emmys that year, according to Variety.
Thus, the best estimate currently points to a summer 2024 release, although the exact date remains unconfirmed.
However, showrunner Ryan Condal has confirmed that the production is fully committed to working on Season 2. In an interview with Variety, Condal explained that certain aspects of the show had to overlap due to the demanding production schedule.
This means that the writing for Season 2 began well in advance, even before the official announcement, while the team was still in the post-production phase of Season 1.
