How Many Post-Credits Scenes There Are In Fast X And What They Depict
After the movie ends, Fast X pleasantly surprises fans with additional content, including an unexpected cameo that significantly impacts the story. Here’s a breakdown of what happens during the post-credits scene.
Fast X doesn’t conclude immediately after the credits roll; a couple of additional surprises follow. The tenth movie in the franchise arrives after a two-year gap since F9 and more than 20 years since the first The Fast and the Furious film hit theaters. As the story nears its end, the post-credits scene of Fast X establishes the groundwork for Fast & Furious 11 and reintroduces a familiar character.
In Fast X, Dante Reyes, played by Jason Momoa, is introduced as Hernan Reyes’ son seeking vengeance against Dominic Toretto for his father’s death a decade ago. Dante’s revenge plot in Fast X endangers Dom’s family, putting them all at risk.
Although the movie concludes with a suspenseful ending, leaving the characters in precarious situations and with little hope, the story doesn’t conclude when the credits begin. Soon after the screen fades to black, an extra scene provides a glimpse of what lies ahead and hints at the involvement of other characters.
What Happens In The Post-Credit Scene From FAST X?
Do you remember the highly publicized and noisy feud between Vin Diesel, a Fast and Furious franchise star, and Dwayne Johnson, during which Johnson declared he would never return to the series? Diesel tried to guilt Johnson into returning publicly, but Johnson called it disrespectful and firmly stated that he had “no chance” of returning.
Well, as it turns out, he did come back. Johnson’s character, Luke Hobbs, makes a cameo appearance in a post-credits scene, clearly indicating his involvement in Fast XI, Fast X: Part Two, or whatever the next installment in the series is called. (I’m hoping for Fast XX, which would cleverly connect the Fast and Furious franchise to Vin Diesel’s short-lived XXX movie series and potentially confuse adult content creators who anticipated capitalizing on the Fast X title.)
The scene featuring Hobbs appears in the middle of the credits; there is no additional scene right at the end of the credits. Once Hobbs makes his appearance, viewers can leave the theater.
This particular Hobbs scene gives off a vibe similar to scenes added later in movies, often noticeable due to their distinct set and a sense of being put together hastily.
This is reminiscent of films like “Snakes on a Plane” and Joss Whedon’s “Justice League” where scenes were retrofitted after the primary production. In this scene, Hobbs pursues a lead related to law enforcement and finds himself in an abandoned warehouse-like space.
In that location, the antagonist of Fast X, Dante Reyes (portrayed by Jason Momoa), has arranged a setup with multiple monitors displaying clips from previous Fast and Furious movies to show Hobbs.
Throughout the movie, Dante has been tormenting Dom Toretto (played by Diesel) by seeking revenge on his Fast family for the death of Dante’s father, Hernan Reyes, in Fast Five. However, the video clips remind us that although Dom and his team brought down Reyes, Hobbs fired the fatal shot that ended Reyes’ life.
Why would a State Department agent from the Diplomatic Security Service engage in the public and brazen killing of criminals? The reason lies in an event from Fast Five, where Reyes ordered the execution of Hobbs’ men.
When Hobbs shoots Reyes, he does so without looking at him, displaying a chilling level of detachment, even for someone as cool as him who wouldn’t look back at an explosion behind him. Amid the act, Hobbs fiercely declares, “That’s for my team, you son of a bitch.”
This is precisely why Dante targets Hobbs next on his list of revenge, intending to torment him before taking his life. In response, Hobbs growls, “Well, I’m not difficult to find, you bastard.” It can be expected that Hobbs will be even more easily located in the upcoming Fast XX, or whatever the next installment is titled.
How Does Fast X End?
Following a direct action sequence in Fast X where the Vatican comes close to exploding, Dom’s wife, Letty (played by Michelle Rodriguez), is accused of being responsible. She is subsequently captured by the Italian police and imprisoned in a highly advanced and visually striking facility, which can only be described as a Super Duper Extra Fantasy Jail.
The Agency has constructed this facility using enormous interlocking onyx boulders that can move independently on gimbals. The design of this jail is futuristic and stylized to surpass even the floating superhero containment systems seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In her attempt to escape, Letty vehemently rejects the assistance of Cipher, a former villain from the Fast and Furious series portrayed by Charlize Theron. However, when Letty emerges from a hatch, she realizes she is stranded in the desolate frozen landscapes of Antarctica, with no signs of civilization in sight.
It becomes evident that although Letty initially intended to leave Cipher alone in Antarctica after a brutal confrontation, she must accept Cipher’s help and cooperate with her.
Interestingly, Cipher had called for assistance, and suddenly, a submarine emerged, breaking through the icy terrain. And to everyone’s surprise, who emerges from that submarine to greet them? Wait, isn’t she supposed to be dead?
In the Fast and Furious movies, permanent deaths seem a rarity, leaving audiences wondering if anyone truly dies for good in this franchise.

A Series Of Cameos
In the film’s closing scene, there is a hint that Gisele Yashar, portrayed by Gal Gadot, is alive and collaborating with Cipher, played by Charlize Theron. It is suggested that Gisele use the submarine in Antarctica to reach Letty and assist her. However, the most surprising moment is reserved for a brief scene after the main credits.
A shadowy figure walks through one of Dante’s surveillance stations while the villainous warlord taunts him over the phone. The final shot unveils that this masked individual is Lucas Hobbs, portrayed by Dwayne Johnson, whose life is also in danger. Dante holds a particular grudge against Hobbs, as Hobbs pulls the trigger and executes Dante’s father.
Hobbs’ last appearance in the franchise was in the spinoff film “Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.” The film concludes with Hobbs receiving a call from his CIA ally, Agent Victor Locke (played by Ryan Reynolds), who informs him about a new potential virus. Hobbs had previously collaborated with Shaw and his sister, Hattie (portrayed by Vanessa Kirby), to defeat the superpowered terrorist Brixton Lore (played by Idris Elba).
It was assumed that they would eventually join forces again for another mission. Considering Shaw’s mission at the end of Fast X to protect his mother from potential threats posed by Dante, Hobbs might come to assist his former partner in his time of need.
Nevertheless, Hobbs has a personal responsibility to protect his own family. He had been raising his daughter and returned to his ancestral home in Samoa to gather forces for a mission to defeat Brixton.
This journey allowed him to pay homage to his heritage and reconnect with his family. However, it becomes apparent that Dante is skilled at targeting his enemies on an intimate level by threatening their loved ones. Dante likely intends to put Hobbs’ entire family, particularly his daughter, in harm’s way.
Placing children in peril is a tactic frequently employed by Dante. Nonetheless, Hobbs remains resolute and determined to take down Dante, bringing the entire Reyes clan to justice.
Overcoming this challenge may be difficult since Dante probably possesses additional information about Hobbs. This information likely stems from his collaboration with Aimes, who has taken over as the covert program’s new director, previously overseen by Mr. Nobody, who mysteriously vanished (likely at the hands of Dante).
Aimes mentions Hobbs early on when discussing law enforcement and special operative agents who have supposedly been “corrupted” by Dom and his betrayal. Considering Aimes had access to files on former agents, it is probable that he has shared them with Dante, intending to use them as leverage during a confrontation between Dante and Hobbs.
