Infinity War Theory in Detail: Stormbreaker Originally Created to Kill Thor, God of Thunder
Thor made Stormbreaker kill Thanos in the Avengers Infinity War, but one theory suggests that the Stormbreaker might be created to kill Thor.
Thor is the god of thunder living in another realm Asgard, the son of Odin, who rules the nine realms under him. Thor was destined to take over the throne of Odin, but because of some mistakes, Odin banished him to Earth and sent his hammer Mjölnir after him.
Odin states that when Thor is worthy, then only he will get his powers and hammer back. Thor did prove to be worthy and saved Earth from alien attack. Since then, Thor and his hammer Mjölnir have been quite a pair in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Thor has won many battles with the help of Mjölnir, and it has become his favourite weapon. Thor is never without his hammer, Mjölnir. But, a twist came in the story of Thor and Mjölnir when Hela, his sister, came to Asgard to sit on the throne; she wanted to rule Asgard in the movie Thor Ragnarok.
Hela, the goddess of death, when met Thor they got into the fight and Thor used Mjölnir, but Hela broke the hammer, a shocking twist. Hela was the former executioner who used to fight battles on the side of Odin, but her greed for power never stopped, so Odin had to stop her.
Thor, without his hammer, doubting his power, when Odin tries to contact him, and he finds out that Mjölnir was only a conduit to help him neutralize the power he already has as he is the God of Thunder. He realizes that he used his power and defeated Hela by saving the people of Asgard.
In the Avengers Infinity War, when Thanos comes to take the Tesseract, the power stone and Thanos being very powerful, takes the power stone from Thor and kills all the people of Asgard along with his brother Loki.
To take revenge on Thanos, Thor goes to Nidavellir, where a dwarf helps him make the greatest weapon to kill Thanos.
Thor’s Stormbreaker Created to Kill Him
In the Avengers Infinity War, Thor created Stormbreaker to kill Thanos, but one theory suggests that it was originally created to kill the Asgardian Prince, Thor instead. The events state that Thor doesn’t even know about this greatest weapon, but the drawf Eitri told him about it and brought the mould when Thor convinced him to help stop the Mad Titan, Thanos.
According to Eitri, Stormbreaker is “a king’s weapon, meant to be the greatest in Asgard.” The dwarf didn’t elaborate much about it, but Odin was the greatest king of Asgard for various centuries if we follow through. There is a possibility that Odin might have thought of Stormbreaker in care Thor is lost on his way and become uncontrollable like Hela. Being a father and a king, one has to think of all the possibilities and prepare beforehand.
Odin kept its name as Stormbreaker, giving a hint that the weapon might be used for killing Thor, as he is the God of Thunder.
However, Odin is dead now, and there’s nothing left apart from Eitri to confirm this theory. It can only happen when Eitri appears again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and share the intention behind the creation of Stormbreaker.
Facts state that Thor never lost his way as Hela did. Thor was always on his righteous path and never felt greedy for more power. Odin, being precautious, did what he had to, but Thor with Stormbreaker killed Thanos, is one of the favourite heroes in Marvel Cinematic Universe.
