The Witcher Season 3 Might Release Early: Filming Start Date Revealed

With the recent release of the witcher season 2 in December 2021, the witcher season 3 filming might get on early in March 2022.

The Witcher Series on Netflix is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, which include different lives of characters on the continents who are understanding their lives on the basis of destiny and politics. The Witcher Season 1 was released in 2019 and is based on the books ‘The Last Wish’ and ‘Sword of Destiny’ introducing the characters which are Geralt of Rivia (played by Henry Cavill), Yennefer of Vengerberg (played by Anya Chalotra) and Princess Cirilla of Cintra, Ciri (Freya Allan).

Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher, monster-slayer, who kills monsters for money. Yennefer of Vengerberg had struggled with her physical deformity since childhood, but she learns magic and sacrifices her chance of being a mother to look beautiful. She is the most powerful sorcerer on the continent. Princess Cirilla of Cintra, Ciri, also known as a Lion Cub, lived with her grandmother, Queen Calanthe, till the attack of Nilfgaard. The Queen told Ciri that her destiny was to find Geralt of Rivia.

Season 1 ends when Ciri and Geralt, destined together, finally meet in the woods after the battle of Sodden Hill. After one year, the witcher season 2 was released, picking up from the ends of season 1.

The Witcher season 2 starts with Geralt taking Ciri to his hometown, a safe place for Witchers who spend their winters together, Kaer Morhen. There Geralt trains Ciri to fight with dangers of the world. Ciri is like a daughter to him because of the Law of Surprise; Geralt has to protect Ciri from everything.

Season 2 is based on the book ‘Blood of Elves. It uncovers the truth of Ciri throughout the season that she has Elder Blood running in her veins and a prophecy that Ciri, the child with Elder Blood, will be the end of the whole world. Ciri also gets visions of the future, and they always come true.

Some of the storylines from the book has been altered on Netflix, the Witcher. For example, the death of one Witcher Eskel, brother of Geralt, wasn’t in the books, the revelation of White Flame didn’t happen so early in the book, and the introduction of Wild Hunt at the end of Season 2.

The Witcher Season 3 revealed that the pre-production had been set to start this month in a few weeks. Along with the pre-production, the filming of the witcher season 3 will begin in March 2022.

It was reported that before the premiere of season 2, the scripts of season 3 were already written. Remember, the scripts are subject to change, and however, the work already started indicates that the fans will be receiving season 3 earlier than season 2.

The Witcher Season 3 release date hasn’t been released yet, but we can expect it to be released in this year, 2022 only. The Witcher season 3 will be inspired by the book ‘Time of Contempt’ in which Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer are going to deal with Nilfgaard, Brotherhood of Sorcerers and the Elves. All of them have different intentions of using Ciri’s powers for their benefit.

The Witcher Series is getting positive reviews as well as some critical reviews. The critics point out that the series, mainly season 2, has altered various parts from the books, and they are not happy about it. Sapkowski’s novels had a fan base, and they were elated to see its depiction in the form of a series on Netflix. However, the critics can affect the audience for season 3.

The Witcher Season 3, Blood Origin, will be showing the events before the flagship series, 1200 years ago. Season 3 will be exploring more depths of the creation of the Witcher and about the Wild Hunt.
