Nisekoi Season 3, Will it ever happen?
Back in the summer of 2015, harem-romantic animes were on the list of pretty much everyone who had a waifu list. Shows like Highschool DXD, Saekano, and The Testament of Sister New Devil were fan favorites, but the series which stood out from the rest was Nisekoi.
Nisekoi is harem rom-com series based on the manga writing of Naoshi Komi and anime adapted by studio Shaft.
The story follows our main character Raku Ichijo, the son of a Yakuza gang leader who is on the verge of an all-out war with the Beehive Gangsters, but the leaders of each gang don’t want it to happen.
It just so happens that the leader of the Beehive Gangsters has a daughter named Chitoge. So the gang leaders force their children to pretend to date each other to prevent a war between the gangs.
Predictably, they can’t stand each other, and Ichijo happens to have a crush on his childhood friend Onodera.
Matters are only complicated further by a promise he made ten years ago with a girl that he can’t remember anything about and who supposedly has a key for a locket that she gave him.
Can the two mismatched couples keep themselves together to maintain peace and prevent an all-out gang war is the central plot of the show.
Nisekoi is filled with ecchi and harem tropes starting from the female characters who get introduced.
There’s the classic Dandere, known for being the quiet type, the creepy but lovable Yandere, known for being cute on the outside but a psycho on the inside and finally, the queen of all the Tsundere, known for being violent and unable to express their feelings verbally initially but gets friendlier over time.
Nisekoi had it all covered, but the girls were not just part of fanservice instead, they were skilfully introduced as plot progression.
Nisekoi, albeit categorized as a harem, was more than that with its zany characters, amazing soundtrack, and comical yet adorable plot. Hence, it’s no wonder why fans of the show are still hoping for its return.

WHAT IS THE NISEKOI SEASON 3 RELEASE DATE?
Nisekoi season one aired from 11th January 2014 to 24th May 2014 for 20 episodes. Following season one, three OVAs titled “Loss / Shrine” (3rd October 2014), “Maiden Work / Change” (4th February 2015), and “Bath House / Service” 3rd April 2015) were released.
Nisekoi was renewed for a second season which ran from 10th April 2015 to 26th June 2016. The series’ final installment came again in the form of an OVA titled “Honeymoon / Magical Pâtissière Kosaki!” aired on 4th January 2016.
As of writing, there is no information from the creators or writer on the renewal of Nisekoi Season 3. Consequently, the Nisekoi season 3 trailer and Nisekoi season 3 release date is yet to be announced.

Studios consider many financial and commercial metrics before renewing for a third season. Studio Shaft has developed popular shows like March Comes in Like a Lion, Monogatari, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and RWBY.
Its readily praised for its liberating concepts, unique character designs, and beautiful animation. However, the studio has come under a fair bit of scrutiny in recent times over its employees.
The controversy surrounding the studio was directly linked to directors not getting credit for their work, and as a result, three directors left the studio.
While the discretion between the studio and its employee may not be a primary reason for the lack of Nisekoi season 3 but it does reflect the working conditions of studio Shaft when their directors are leaving on contentious terms.
Nevertheless, it’s been six years since we last saw Nisekoi, and sadly it appears the wait is going to continue as the chances of Nisekoi season 3 look bleak until and unless a new studio picks it up. If it does get a new production studio then we can expect Nisekoi season 3 release date as Winter 2023.
NISEKOI MANGA CATCHUP
Nisekoi manga is written and illustrated by Naoshi Komi, and it began serialization in Jump NEXT magazine on 8th January 2018 and later moved to Weekly Shonen Jump on 7th November 2011.
The manga is concluded and has been collected into 25 volumes and 229 chapters, with the latest issue coming out on 4th October 2016.
As of 2018, Nisekoi manga has sold over 12 million copies in print.
Nisekoi manga is rated 7.7/10 and ranked #1451 and 186k members on MyAnimeList.
NISEKOI SEASON 3 PLOT
To develop a new season creator, need source material, and fortunately, there are roughly 100 chapters still left for the third season.
In Nisekoi season 3, we may finally see the series answer the question of who is the promised girl? Spoilers, it’s Onodera. Although Onodera is the promised girl, Raku is smitten by Chitoge, and they end up together.
Ruri and Shuu also marry each other, while Maria remains single due to a lack of a potential partner. Raku becomes the new gang leader while Chitoge is the designer, and Tsugumi is her model/bodyguard.
Raku and Chitoge have a song called Haku, who studies at the same school Onodera did, whose daughter Sasa after marriage to Miyanagi, also attends the same school. Nisekoi Season 3 characters dynamics and plotlines should come to a conclusion if the series get renewed.

CONCLUSION
Even though we may not get the third season, Nisekoi will go down as a classic of the harem rom-com genre.
