Ranking Of Kings Season 2: Release Date Next Year? + Spin-Off Confirmed

Ranking of Kings Season 2 teased as spin-off gets its first look!

Sometimes anime doesn’t need complex stories and modern art style with high-tech animation as, more often than not, it’s the plot and characters which steal the show and hearts of the people.

This was the case back in the Fall of 2021 when Ranking of Kings made its debut without much fan fervor but exploded in popularity within the first three episodes.

When shonen series like One piece and Demon Slayer were smashing box office numbers, the anime adaption of Sōsuke Tōka s’ manga series Reality of Kings by Wit studios was making quite inroads into anime masterclass and hall of fame legacy.

Ranking of Kings is set in a world in which, for the title s’ namesake, Kings are ranked based on their kingdom’s strength, heroism, and prosperity. The king who stands tall and comes first is offered a boon from the ‘Divine Treasure Vault’ featuring mysterious artifacts and unseen riches.

The story follows Bojji, a mute and deaf young prince of the Bosse Kingdom who is incredibly weak. The people constantly ridiculed him and challenged his place within the kingdom.

Despite the public humiliation and lack of confidence in him, Bojji is earnest and does his best to ascend the throne even if he can’t hold a sword.

One day he runs into a thief named Kage, who is from the shadow clan. Kage is somehow able to understand and communicate with Bojji despite his disabilities.

Bojji is ecstatic even though Kage is in the middle of robbing him, but the young prince is just happy that someone finally understands him.

He gives everything he currently has, and they even agree to meet the next day so Kage can rob him again.

Through this, Kage learns more about Bojji and grows fonder of him. While strolling in the city, Kage becomes aware of Bojji s’ reputation and notices his strong-willed nature to become the next king.

Can Bojji overcome the challenges and prejudices as he carves his path to Kinghood is the central plot of the show.

Ranking of Kings warmed the hearts of anime fans worldwide, and its success reflects brilliant storytelling with character and world-building.

Following the first season’s success, the demand for season two was in massive numbers. So, is Ranking of Kings renewed? Keep scrolling to find out the answer as we bring you the latest news and updates on the Ranking of Kings season 2.

Studios often consider various performance and financial metrics before announcing a renewal.

When it comes to Ranking of Kings, there is no cause to fret, as the first installment was a massive success.

The show gained positive reviews with each episode and was ranked #1 and #6 on Anime News Network s’ Top 10 Best-rated and Watched Fall 2021 Anime, respectively.

Furthermore, Ranking of Kings won the Best Boy and Protagonist in Crunchyroll 6th Anime Awards and came runner-up in Anime of the Year, Best Character Design, Best Fantasy, and Best Voice Actor Performance (FR).

Considering the Awards and Nominations coupled with overseas success, there is no doubt Ranking of Kings will be renewed for a second season, but when?

The main hindrance to a renewal is the lack of source material, with only two volumes available, which means creators have to fill time with a spin-off series.

Hence, on 8th August 2022, Wit Studio announced a spin-off series titled Ousama Ranking: Treasure Chest of Courage which is scheduled to release on April 2023.

The official Twitter account released a key visual followed by a trailer for the spin-off series on 4th December 2022.

It’s expected by mid-2024, there will be enough source material. Consequently, we can expect the Ranking of Kings Season 2 trailer and Ranking of Kings Season 2 release date in winter 2024.
