The manga is co-authored by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui with illustrations from Ajichika. Record of Ragnarok manga was first published in Monthly Comic Zenon on 25th November 2017.

As of writing, there have been 14 volumes that have been released, with the last one coming out on 19th March 2022.

Record of Ragnarok anime adapted the first 20 episodes or five volumes from the manga. It’s unsure how many chapters Record of Ragnarok season 2 will cover. But with just three fights in season one, it won’t be much different, is the assumption.

In the first season, we saw eight characters, with only six of them involved in the battle. So, going by that premise, Record of Ragnarok Season 2 will cover chapters 21 to 48 or 49.

Flipping through the manga, we can find that the sixth battle just finished, so it will take time for Record of Ragnarok season 2 to be adapted.

Record of Ragnarok’s final episode, “And the Ragnarok goes on,” was by far the best episode. We saw the God of seas, Poseidon, take on the Japanese swordsman representing humanity Kojiro Sasaki.

Despite the clear advantage in status and power with Poseidon, Kojiro, with his skill and Valkyrie weapon, chops up the God of seas in four pieces. This sends a shockwave within the Gods as Humanity gets its first win.

The final episode introduces Jack the Ripper, who will fight for Humanity in the next bout. This doesn’t go well with the humans as Jack was a serial killer in the streets of London.

After the death of his older brother, Zeus accepts the strength of Humanity and chooses the mighty Hercules as the next fighter. The episode ends with Jack and Hercules standing off each other in London street as the battleground.

Record of Ragnarok season 2 will start where the first season ended. The fourth battle of the Ragnarok will be between Jack the Ripper and Hercules.

The second season will also feature Shiva, the Hindu God of Destruction, who will fight the 17th-century sumo wrestler Raiden Tameemon. This will be the fifth round of the Ragnarok.

Finally, the sixth round will pit the founder of Buddhism, Buddha, against the God of Misfortune Zerofuku.

There was wide-found criticism for the fights in Record of Ragnarok season one. The animation behind the action scenes was cited as below par with the manga having much better illustrations.

Record of Ragnarok season 2 will have three fights, so the expectation is that Graphinica improves the animation and direction.
