REM RE ZERO: WHEN DOES SHE WAKE UP FROM SLEEP?
Rem has gone for a long siesta, but the real question is, when does she wake up?
Re: Zero has become immensely popular in the Isekai fandom, and it continues to gather a strong fanbase invested in all fictional ideas and discussions. One of the popular topics is when does Rem wake up?
Re: Zero is the dark fantasy anime written by Tappei Nagatsuki, which follows the story of Subaru Natsuki, who is suddenly summoned into a fantasy world after shopping at a convenience store.
He meets Emilia, and in trying to help an elf regain her insignia from thieves, Subaru is killed. A few hours after his death, he is revived and realizes he has got the power to return from the dead anytime. His abilities come at a cost, though, as every time he dies, he carries along with the memories from his previous life while everyone else forgets what happened.
His missions include helping Emilia become the next queen of Lugunica, making new friends, and helping them use his newfound power.
Re: Zero is a must-watch for its innovative concept and serious tone despite being an Isekai anime. The animation is beautiful, and the characters are likable—a must-watch for any Isekai fan.
Fans who have finished watching Re Zero Season 2 must be wondering when does Rem wake up? So, let’s find out the reason for the sleeping princess , but fair warning, the answer may be considered a spoiler for the upcoming Re: Zero Season 3.
WHO IS REM, AND HOW DOES SHE GO INTO SLEEP?
Rem from Re:Zero is one of the service maids for Rosswal L Mathers alongside her sister Ram. She has both admiration and guilt for her sister s’ past, and when Subaru saves her, she immediately develops feelings for him. She becomes a close ally and also an unrequited love partner.
In the 17th episode of season one, “Disgrace in the Extreme,” Rem throws herself in front of the white whale to save Otto and Subaru, who are knocked out. The next day except for Subaru, everyone else has no memory of Rem.
Rem was on the way back to the Capital with Crusch but was attacked by the Sin Archbishops of Greed and Gluttony, Ley Batenkaitos.
Due to Gluttony’s ability to eat a being’s name and existence, Rem is in a coma-like state with all her memories and name erased from existence. Only Subaru can remember her with his ability, “Return by Death.”

IS REM STILL ALIVE?
Rem is very much alive, but she is in a coma or Rem death-like sleep state. It can be argued that she is dead since no one except Subaru recollects her as Gluttony erased her from everyone s’ memories.
We later find out that Ley Batenkatios is decapitated by Rem s’ twin sister Ram, but it doesn’t restore everyone s ‘memory of her which is what Subaru hoped would happen.

WHY IS REM SO POPULAR IN RE: ZERO?
There are many admirable qualities of Rem that makes her a fan-favorite character in Re: Zero.
Firstly, she is loyal to Subaru despite him not picking her as a lover and choosing Emilia. She supports Subaru and even sacrifices herself to save him.
Secondly, despite being powerful, she works as a maid and is pretty good at it. She also takes pride in her work, showcasing her humility.
Thirdly, she is a hopeless romantic who, like every one of us, has been in unrequited love at some point.
Re: Zero sales and viewership may not fall drastically because of Rem s’ absence, but they would do well the maintain the ratings as she is a hugely popular character.
Re: Zero fans would not mind a sequel or spin-off series covering Rem sleep time.
