10. Refrigerator in Monica’s & Joey’s Apartments Actually Worked

Every time someone entered Monica’s apartment, they would all open the refrigerator and take something to drink. Well, it might come as surprising that the beers or drinks weren’t put there before the shot, but the refrigerator worked. According to DigitalSpy, the fridge in Monica’s apartment was always filled with drinks for the cast and crew members.
9. The Cast Didn’t Film Cliffhangers in Front of Live Audience
All the exciting and dramatic endings of many episodes of the Friends series were shot without the live audience. In the special Friends: Final Thoughts, one of the leading actress Jennifer Aniston disclosed the fact that all the cliffhangers were not filmed in front of a live audience for obvious reasons. She stated that if some of them did film in front of the live audience, then the next episode would be spoiled.

John Shaffner, the production designer who designed the set of Friends, placed a door at the end of Monica’s hallway apartment. But the door was never noticed by anyone until the eighth season when the episode ‘The One With the Secret Closet’ was released. In that episode, the curiosity of Chandler led to an interesting secret of Monica, that she is messy and has kept all the things that don’t go with her furniture or don’t have enough space to place, go inside that closet.

The reason for changing the address was unclear, but Monica’s apartment number was 5 in the starting, but later it changed to number 20. A unique color given to Monica’s apartment has a backstory. John Shaffner, the production designer, mentioned that some people were ‘really anxious’ about the Color chosen for Monica’s apartment. Still, John decided to keep it that way to create an identity of the Friends Series, and it worked.
John Shaffner said, ‘Color is really important in terms of establishing the show’s identity. When you switched to Friends, you saw that it was purple and you stayed tuned.”
