Isekai animes have a beautiful way of storytelling with their unique characters, world-building, and magical nuances. The popularity of this genre has only grown massively in recent years, and It’s no surprise why one out of five animes is isekai.
It wasn’t any different in the Fall of 2021 when the anime adaption by Children’s Playground Entertainment of Kanata Yanagino s’ light novel series Faraway Paladin made it to the big screen.
The story begins when we see a boy floating through an odd space, tired and in pain but afraid to take one step further into the light.
This person is then reincarnated into a mystical world in the form of a baby at a temple. He still has memories from his previous life, but they are distant and vague.
He sees three scary and powerful-looking beings around him a skeleton, a mummy, and a specter. So, he cries violently as he is terrified, thinking they’re going to kill him; however, they end up raising and caring for him.
They gave him the name Will, and when he turned six months old, he could now generally understand the language of this world. Although he can’t speak yet, the mummy takes him outside the temple for the first time, where Will begins to cry because the outside world is so beautiful.
At first, Will thinks he is in hell being punished after living such a hopelessly vague life, but he realizes he was wrong this is no punishment but the grace of god.
By the time Will was three years old, he could already read and write like an adult. The specter, Gus, teaches him the history of this world and the knowledge of magic.
Despite Gus’s prioritizing magic, the Blood skeleton teaches Will all the basics of combat and warfare.
The mummy, Mary, explains that the earth’s mother mater is the god of child rearing and bounties of the earth; therefore, she feels that the mater is the most important goddess.
Although being only his foster family, Will gets no answers on their origins from either one. To unravel the secrets, he must know the history of the undead and the faraway land.
Faraway Paladin follows the journey of Will as he comes of age and begins his own life, finding the true meaning of his birth and path to becoming a Paladin.

WHAT IS THE FARAWAY PALADIN SEASON 2 RELEASE DATE?
Faraway Paladin season one aired from 9th October 2021 to 3rd January 2022 for 12 episodes.
On 25th December 2021, the show s’ official Twitter account renewed the show for a second season. The announcement came as part of a Christmas gift and contained the message, “Will’s journey continues! Stay tuned for more news!”.
Although Faraway Paladin is renewed for season two, there is no official update from the studio Children’s Playground Entertainment on the Faraway Paladin Season 2 release date.

The first season was already postponed to Winter 2021 from Summer 2021. Hence, the release schedule was already behind its original date.
Considering the renewal announcement came before the season finale of the first season, many fans were hoping for a Faraway Paladin Season 2 trailer and the Faraway Paladin Season 2 release date to be October 2023.
On Friday, April 14, 2023, the official website of The Faraway Paladin anime announced that the Faraway Paladin Season 2 to premiere in October 2023

FARAWAY PALADIN LIGHT NOVEL AND MANGA CATCHUP
Faraway Paladin’s light novel is written by Kanata Yanagino and illustrated by Kususaga Rin. It began serialization on the Shosetsuka Ni Naro website on May 2015 and was later acquired by Overlap in 2016.
The light novel has been collected into four volumes, with the latest issue released on 25th September 2017.
Quite incredibly, the author took a long hiatus from writing, and publication was stopped due to his ill health. But on 3rd February 2021, Kanata Yanagino confirmed he is working on the next installment of the series.
The light novel is far from being the most popular series, as it’s believed to have sold 300,000 to 500,000 copies in the sale.
Volume 4, the latest volume, didn’t rank on Oricon 2017, so it sold less than 3,000 copies.
Faraway Paladin’s light novel is rated 8/10 and ranked #603 with 7.2k members on MyAnimeList.
Faraway Paladin manga is written by Kanata Yanagino and illustrated by Mutsumi Okuhashi. It began serialization on the Comic Gardo website on 25th September 2017. The manga has been collected into eight volumes, with the latest issue released on 25th September 2021.
Faraway Paladin manga is rated 7.8/10 and ranked #1090 with 24k members on MyAnimeList.
FARAWAY PALADIN SEASON 2 PLOT
In the final episode of Faraway Paladin season 1, “The Faraway Paladin,” we see Menel not backing off to Will and demanding a fight but the latter returns back to his village with resentment.
Will and Menel are confronted by Chimeras, who are sent to kill all the humans in Beast Woods. The pair kills the Chimeras while Reystov slays the chief demon. The episode ends with celebrating their victory, wherein Will has bestowed the governorship of Beast Woods.
The Faraway Paladin Season 2 will begin by adapting the Lord of the Rust Mountains arc from the third volume.
The mountains are house to Dwarves and magical beasts wherein a fire is about the breakout. Will and Menel are sent to investigate some plants blooming out of season, and on their journey to the Rust Mountains, they encounter many dwarfs.
