The Witcher Series on Netflix learns from the errors and shouldn’t repeat Game of Thrones’ mistakes in the final season.
The Witcher Series on Netflix has been a hit, one of the binge-worthy series, loved by the audience. The Witcher Series is based on various novels of a Polish author, Andrzej Sapkowski. Before the series, people were in love with the books, and with the series, the fans were amazed at how well the presentation of the books is shown.
Many compare the two series, Game of Thrones and The Witcher, as they share various similarities of events and characters. Game of Thrones is based on fantasy novels, too, by Gorge R. R. Martin, an American Novelist.
The Witcher Series revolves around three main characters: Geralt of Rivia, a witcher (monster-hunter), Princess Cirilla of Cintra, Ciri, a child known to be the end of the world Yennefer of Vengerberg, a powerful sorcerer. The Witcher cast includes Henry Cavill as Geralt, the Witcher, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Freya Allan as Ciri.
Game of Thrones cast includes Sean Bean as Ned Stark, Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, Kit Harington as Jon Snow, Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, and many more. Game of Thrones doesn’t focus on only 2-3 main characters but many.
The Witcher Vs. Game of Thrones
The Game of Thrones Series was released in April 2011 on the HBO platform, and it was a big hit just like the Witcher Series now on Netflix. Game of Thrones ended after its ill-fame eighth season, which involved the turn of a protagonist Daenerys Targaryen into a role of antagonist, which no one liked.
Based on the Witcher books and video games, the Witcher series has shown the possibility of a female protagonist Princess Cirilla of Cintra, Ciri of becoming the end of the world an antagonist in the upcoming seasons.
On the positive side, only two seasons have been released of the Witcher Series, and it has time to learn from the others and avoid the mistakes made by the Game of Throne Series. The sudden transformation of Daenerys Targaryen from a liberator to a tyrant did a lot of damage to the show. Game of Throne Series is shut down for good due to the response of the audience after the release of the final season.
The showrunner of the Witcher Series, Lauren S. Hissrich, must be careful in plotting the further seasons as if not, the witcher series can come to an end like Game of Thrones did. The power of success and downfall of a series is dependent upon the viewers. The showrunner must understand the audience’s point of view and deliver an outstanding adventure of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri in the future.
Although the success of the Witcher Series has been amazing since 2019, it’s the release of season 1 on Netflix. As compared to the peak of the Game of Thrones Series, the Witcher Series is below in popularity. However, it’s not like the Witcher series doesn’t have a devoted audience.
Netflix must learn from the mistakes of the Game of Thrones series, as after two and a half years, HBO released the final, eighth season of Game of Thrones which still is a fresh wound in the hearts of Game of Thrones viewers. The Witcher, avoiding the mistakes in the future, can give a new definition to fantasy on TV. Concluding the Witcher with an appropriate yet satisfying ending can lead to a huge success for the series.
