World’s Finest Assassin Season 2: Is It Renewed Or Not?

World’s Finest Assassin Season 2 looks like a diminishing dream as the studio and the creator keep quiet on the renewal.
Isekai anime have been massively popular off late, and many new shows have been on fans’ wishlist for a second season. We bet good money that the World’s Finest Assassin would be very high on that list.
Created and based on the light novel by Rui Tsukiyo, World’s Finest Assassin gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat is an isekai fantasy anime that has broken records since its release. It was the most-watched anime on Crunchyroll for fall 2021.
World’s Finest Assassin follows the story of Lugh Tuatha De, who in his real-life (as you can guess from the title) was one of the best assassins in the World. After completing a mission, he decides to retire and become a mentor for future assassins.
He tells his organization of his decision which initially accepts it but later double-cross him on a plane and kills him. After his death, he is presented in front of a goddess who gives him two choices: be reborn or continue with the existing memories in a new world where he would be needed to kill its Hero.
After serving the organization emotionlessly, the assassin chooses the second option and is born into a noble family of assassins named Lugh Tuatha Dé. How Lugh grows up in the new World and kills the Hero is the show’s central plot.
Since the first season ended, fans of the show have been anxiously waiting for World’s Finest Assassin Season 2. To find the renewal status of the show, keep reading as we bring you the latest on the World’s Finest Assassin Season 2

The first season of the World’s finest assassin aired from 6th October 2021 to 22nd October 2021.
As of writing, there is no confirmation from the studio regarding the renewal of World’s Finest Assassin Season 2.
Writer Ryu Tsukiyo after season one concluded, tweeted, “The animation of “The World’s Finest Assassin, reincarnated as a Nobleman in Another World” is over.
Beyond that, you can also enjoy novels and comicalize! If you want to see the continuation in animation, I would appreciate it if you could support it!”
Fans would be disappointed for sure, as despite the show’s success not just in Japan but globally, the creators have not announced a renewal. The first season only covers the light novel’s first volume, leaving five more volumes as source material for season two and even season three.

If and when the creators decide to pick up the show, we can expect the World’s Finest Assassin Season 2 Release Date to be late 2022 or early 2023.
World’s Finest Assassin gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat is rated 7.3/10 and ranked #2078 with 379k members on MyAnimeList.

World’s Finest Assassin manga is written by Ryu Tsukiyo and illustrated by Hamao Sumeragi. It was first serialized on the Young Ace Up manga website. The manga has four volumes, and the first issue was released on 4th October 2019.

World’s Finest Assassin light novel is also written by Rui Tsukiyo and illustrated by Reia. The series was first released on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in July 2018. The first volume was published on 1st February 2019.
Writer Ryu Tsukiyo is quite well known for writing isekai, which starts as light-hearted and progressively turns dark. Tsukiyo also wrote Redo of the Healer, which also got anime adapted and follows the same narrative.
In an interview, Tsukiyo responded to his reputation for writing dark and violent stories and said, “A dark fantasy is compatible with that kind of character as well. For as long as the current trend continues, I think that the deep-seated popularity of dark fantasy will continue”.
The blue-ray sales are not listed on Oricon, but it’s estimated to be in between 500-1000 copies only. The light novel volume five and six sold less than 5000 copies. The total imprint sales are roughly 1 million copies which sadly does not even make it in the 200 most sold light novels.
World’s Finest Assassin manga is rated 7/10 and ranked #6913 with 16k members on MyAnimeList.

World’s Finest Assassin season one final episode, “Battle of Assassin,” left the series with a major reveal and a cliffhanger. We see that Dia is being sneaked into the Tuatha de kingdom as her father is planning to assassinate her to stop the civil war. As Dia s’ evacuation is taking place, Setanta appears wielding Gae Bolg and confronts Lugh.
Lugh knows he has no chance of winning and tries to trick Setanta by throwing a tungsten projectile in the air to distract his attention as Setanta is looking up. The projectile nukes and kills him on the spot.
Dia is adopted as a younger sister in the Tuatha family, thus completing the mission. Finally, the episode and season close with the biggest disclosure as we see Lugh’s father telling him that Hero (who Lugh had been tasked to kill by the Goddess) named Epona Rhiannon has arrived in the Alvan kingdom.
The World’s Finest Assassin Season 2 will primarily focus on Epona s’ character arc. The synopsis of the light novel’s second volume, which will be adapted into the second season, gives away details of the storyline.
World’s Finest Assassin Season 2 will see Lugh and his allies enroll in an Avlan academy to learn about Epona Rhiannon. Lugh will look to build a relationship with his target by winning his trust and, ironically, saving his life.
Writer Ryu Tsukiyo had an interesting take on his assassin protagonist, saying, “I prefer protagonists who don’t hesitate. An assassin who hesitates in the first place would be a disaster. If they hesitate in front of their target, they shouldn’t have taken the job in the first place”.

The Lugh-Epona dynamics will be vital as we saw Lugh mentioning to the Goddess about saving the World without killing the Hero. On the other hand, Lugh wants to experience the joy of killing without being bonded by moral obligations.
We also expect season two to explore more about the father-son relationship between Lugh and Cian. In episode eight, we see that Cian gives his son a choice to quit an assassin’s life and become a merchant, as Lugh answers in the negative and prefers to remain an aristocrat assassin.
Ryu Tsukiyo commented on the father-son bond, saying, “Right from the start, I decided that Lugh’s parents would be kind and humane people that get involved with him deeply. Furthermore, his father, Cian, has to be a professional assassin whom Lugh can respect. From there, I worked backward and developed Cian’s personality.”
World’s Finest Assassin Season 2 will only get darker and more complex as the principal antagonist (or is he) gets introduced in the season one finale.
