Animes with unique concepts are always welcome within the fandom, and Cells At Work is one of those series that fits that specific description.

Cells At Work is the anime adaption of Akane Shimizu s’ manga series, Hataraku Saibou, which premiered in the Summer 2018 season.

The premise is set inside the human body, where 37.2 trillion cells work tirelessly throughout the year to keep it healthy.

The plot follows two anthropomorphic fresh out of training cells, i.e., a rookie red blood cell, AE3803, and a blood cell, U-1146.

AE3803 is handed the important task of transporting oxygen, while U-1146 is responsible for patrolling and eliminating harmful bacteria trying to invade the body. Meanwhile, platelets act to stop bleeding and heal wounds. 

Cells At Work shows the daily lives of these cells as they act together while bickering with other cell types to keep the body healthy.

Cells at Work has been a massive success, but after the conclusion of season two, fans are wondering if there will be a third installment or not.

Cells at Work season one ran from 8th July 2018 to 30th September 2018 for 13 episodes. The series was renewed for a second season that aired from 9th January 2021 to 27th February 2021 for 8 episodes.

As of writing, there is no update from studio David Productions on the renewal of Cells At Work Season 3.

Production studios consider various financial and commercial metrics before announcing a renewal.

Financially, the Blu-ray discs sold around 8,000 units with a popularity score of 88.8% from various broadcasting platforms.

As mentioned earlier, Cells At Work is a popular comedy series and was also one of the top-rated animes of Summer 2018.

If you look at the second season s’ IMDB rating, there is no doubt fans were engaged throughout its run.

While the reviews, ratings, and profits are favorable, a crucial factor will be the availability of studio and source material.

Unfortunately, both the seasons covered 25 of the available 30 chapters from the Hataraku Saibou manga. 

This leaves behind only five chapters for a potential Cells At Work Season 3, which is safe to say will not be enough.

Furthermore, David Productions has new anime, i.e., Undead Unluck, scheduled to release later this year; hence the studio is occupied as well.

It may take time for Cells At Work Season 3 update to arrive, But Cells At Work Season 3 release date in early 2025 and for Cells At Work Season 3 trailer release in end 2024.

Whatever hard work we see inside of the body by the human internal system, we will see the same things inside the next season also.

Along with this, we also got to see a new manga that features a Killer T Cell. It will be released soon in anime.
