As an anime fan, there is nothing worse than unfinished endings, and it gets worse when you stay in hope for a show to get a good end. Well, Kamaisama Kiss evokes the same feeling since the second season of this endearing shoujo anime ended.
Kamisama Kiss is a romantic supernatural comedy anime based on the writing of Julietta Suzuki. The plot follows Nanami Momozono, who dreams of living an everyday school life, but tragedy strikes when her father s’ gambling addiction costs their apartment as they become homeless.
Nanami goes to a park in contemplation, where she meets a man who is scared to death after being chased by a dog. She drives the dog away, and the man reveals himself as Mikage, who kisses her forehead and thanks her for saving him.
He also gives her a home and scribbles the address on a paper as Nanami is left confused by the sudden turn of events. On arriving at Mikage s’ home, she deciphers that it’s not an ordinary home but a shrine of worship.
There she meets a yokai called Tomoe, who tells her that she is the new earth deity of the shrine after being bound by Mikage s’ kiss on her forehead.
At first, Nanami is opposed to this setting, but as time passes, she starts accepting her responsibilities as the Earth deity. The remaining plot focuses on the developing love of Nanami and Tomoe, where the latter denies the idea of loving a yokai as its considered taboo.

WHAT IS THE KAMISAMA KISS SEASON 3 RELEASE DATE?
As of writing, there is no official news from the creator Suzuki or TMS entertainment studio for the Kamisama kiss season 3 release date.
The first season came out on 1st October 2012, while the second season premiered on 5th January 2015. Looking at the release dates, we can assume TMS entertainment does take their own sweet time in renewing seasons. We expect Kamisama Kiss Season 3 to release between early 2023 to mid 2023.
Fans of the show will undoubtedly be disappointed, but all is not lost as we have seen in recent times, a long-lost show can be renewed out of necessity. We saw in this year’s Anime Expo; that Devil is a part-timer anime that was renewed for a second season after nine years, giving some hope for a third season.

KAMISAMA KISS SEASON 3 PLOT
In the final episode of Kamisama Kiss Season 2, “The God Receives a Marriage Proposal,” we saw a flashback of Nanami s’ memories. Her mother tells Nanami to become an independent woman as her father is incapable of living his life without gambling.
Soon, her mother passes away, and Nanami is left to live with her father, a smoker, and gambler. In an unfortunate accident, Nanami s’ father forgets to put out his cigarette, which burns the whole house, including the photos of her mother.
Tomoe and Mizuki are watching these memories as the former feels bad and decides to spend time with young Nanami. Tomoe proposes to young Nanami, who in her innocence accepts, thus leaving Tomoe embarrassed.
Tomoe and Nanami reach the shrine where they see Lord year God s’ sheep blocking the gate. Nanami calms down the ship as the Lord year God trims the sheep s’ wool. The Lord year god gives Nanami a picture of her mother as she returns to the shrine.
Back in reality, Nanami recollects a memory of a promise that someone made to marry her. Later, she realizes it was Tomoe blushing as the episode closes with Nanami saying she won’t marry.
Kamisama Kiss Season 2 final episode was a tear-jerker for sure as we witness the sad memories of young Nanami. The trip down memory lane makes us appreciate Nanami and how far she had come from a rather traumatic childhood.
The Nanami-Tomoe love story gets light in the four-part OVA, Kako-hen. In the final OVA titled, “The God Meets Someone,” Nanami s’ mark disappears as she asks ‘Who is she.’
Tomoe replies,” she is Nanami,” as the two embrace with a kiss, and Nanami promises to herself that she will tell her love Tomoe many times.
There are still some unresolved plot points that the fans hope will take up in Kamisama season 3. For instance, we never know what happens with Akur-ou, who is still alive. Fans would also like to know if Nanami married and bore many children, and if so, is it a girl child?

KAMISAMA KISS MANGA CATCHUP
Kamisama Kiss manga is written and illustrated by Julietta Suzuki; it was first published in Hana to Yume shojo magazine. There are 25 volumes with 149 chapters, and the first volume was released on 19th September 2008, while the final issue came out on 19th August 2016.
The first season adapted 31 chapters of the manga, and the second season covered chapter 64. If you are curious about the events after the last episode of the OVA, then you start to read the manga from chapters 101 up to 149.
