Mob Psycho 100 Season 4, will it happen or not?
The “goofy unassuming character suppressing his power” trope has been highly popular since the release of One Punch Man.
While some still question if Mob Psycho rose to fame on the back of it, there is no doubt mangaka Tomohiro aka One, has created two mainstream anime masterpieces.
It is a standard formula and a great way to externalize an internal struggle by making the main character the most powerful being on earth from the start, that in itself, is a lot of fun and filled with subversions.
Mob Psycho 100 is an action-comedy series anime adapted from the manga writings of One by Studio Bones.
The story follows a young boy named Shigeo Kageyama, also known as Mob, who has incredible psychic abilities that becomes stronger when he’s in a heightened emotional state.
As he fears inconveniencing or to hurt others with these powers, he tries to keep his emotions suppressed most of the time, which leads to him being socially awkward and feeling like an outcast, thus having extreme outbursts at the worst possible moments.
Mob spends most of his free time working for Reigen Arataka, a fraudulent spirit medium with no psychic abilities whatsoever.
He uses the mystique of the supernatural mostly as a marketing tool to sell people on discount therapy and massages on occasion, he does run into ghosts, and it is the Mob’s job to mop those up.
It’s a show that exudes childhood innocence by taking one’s intentionally crude and amateur art style and leaning into it.
Instead of superheroes, Mob Psycho is aimed at the kids with supernatural abilities genre, where the main character’s personal growth is tied to the strength of his powers.After the season three finale, fans wondered if there would be a fourth season.

Mob Psycho is rated 8.4/10 and ranked #126 with 1.7 million members on MyAnimeList.
When will Mob Psycho 100 Season 4 Release Date?
The first season of Mob Psycho 100 season one aired from 12th July 2016 to 27th September 2016 for 12 episodes and adapted the first 50 chapters of the manga.
Mob Psycho 100 season two ran from 7th July 2019 till 1st April 2019, and its 13 episodes covered the following 40 chapters.
The remaining 11 chapters were adapted in the third season, which aired from 6th October 2022 to 22nd December 2022 for 12 episodes.
Simply put, since the manga has ended, there is not sufficient source material for producing Mob Psycho 100 Season 4.
Hence, it’s unlikely that Studio Bones will provide a future update on Mob Psycho 100 Season 4 trailer or Mob Psycho 100 Season 4 release date.
|Mob Psycho 100 Season 1||July 12th 2016|
|Mob Psycho 100 Season 2||7th July 2019|
|Mob Psycho 100 Season 3||5th October 2022|
|Mob Psycho 100 Season 4||Source Material Exhausted|
Some fans were also concerned about the renewal for the third season since the manga had already ended in 2016, and its sales were not the best either, i.e., as of 2016, Mob Psycho 100 manga only sold 1.2 million copies.
Despite making average sales, the manga won the 62nd Shogakukan Award in the Shonen category. Finally, disc sales were limited to only 4220 units due to the rise of streaming platforms.
The only possible chance of receiving any form of Mob Psycho content will be the adaption of the spin-off series, Reigen. However, since the studio has already produced 2 OVAs previously, even that would not be economically viable.
MOB PSYCHO SEASON 3 FINALE RECAP
We might not see Mob Psycho 100 Season 4 characters or any new plotlines, but meanwhile, you can enjoy the recap of the third season s’ finale.
Reigen and Serizawa make their way through the storm, but the latter is stopped due to Mob s’ absorbing his psychic power.
Shigeo keeps consuming Mob while telling him he only loves Tsubomi as she only accepts him for his powers.
Reigen tries to holler Mob but is unheeded as he only uses him for his powers. Reigen is blown away by Mob s’ attacks which he had been training to keep up with him.
“Shigeo” absorbs all of Mob and approaches the entrance to the park when suddenly Reigen appears in front of him, having been possessed and saved by a returning Dimple, who regained his spiritual form due to Mob’s desire to see him again.
Reigen speaks to Mob and confesses himself to be a liar with no psychic powers, the shock of which stops Mob’s rampage.
He apologizes but tells Mob not to reject the other side of himself since everyone is the same way.
Hearing his words, Mob returns to the mental realm, and he and “Shigeo” form together to become “100% Shigeo Kagayama”.
With just a lone flower remaining, Mob goes to the park to see Tsubomi, who was waiting for him the entire time and rejects him. Reigen comforts Mob as they discuss what to do about fixing the city.
Several months later, in his third year of middle school, Mob is now the Vice Captain of the Body Improvement Club, training the recruits.
He, Ritsu, and Teru go to Spirits & Such, where Tome now works, with her poking fun at him for keeping up a friendship with Tsubomi despite being rejected.
Several of their friends join them in surprising Reigen for his birthday. He is nearly driven to tears when he falls head-first into the cake, causing Mob and everyone to laugh.
