The series, which has been quiet for a few years now, officially announced its next season, Vinland Saga Season 2, is happening.
The historical Japanese manga series Vinland Saga is written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura. The manga was adapted to animation by Wit Studio and was directed by Shūhei Yabuta. The Vinland Saga anime series was released in its first season in July 2019, which was completed by December 2019.
The Vinland Saga season 1 covered the adventures of the leading character, Young Thorfinn, who grew up listening to the stories of old sailors who have traveled the ocean and reached a legendary place, Vinland. Abiru said, ‘Before I knew it, a much longer time had passed since we announced the production of Season 2,” Abiru shared. “We are still moving forward day by day with the anime production, so we appreciate your patience for a bit longer.”
The 2nd season will be 24 episodes in total released as two Vinland Saga Season 2 Blu-Ray/DVD volumes. That means it will be two cours in total and the 2nd season’s finale, Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 24, will release in January 10, 2023 which means already season 2 is ongoing season where many episode already released.
After the confirmation of the new season, the production and everything will take around 12 to 18 months for its release. Unfortunately, Studio Wit isn’t working on the Vinland Saga Season 2. However, it will be taken by a new studio, Kafka.
