Pets or animals, in general, are prevalent in animes as we have quite often seen the main character having a sidekick in the form of a furry friend.

But what happens when a pet enters the protagonist s’ life, and he doesn’t know what to expect? 

The anime adaption of Kyuryu Z s’ manga series, Nights with a Cat, tries to give an answer to that question.

The story follows Fuuta -kun who has never owned a cat before, but when his young sister, Pii-chan, brings home a round grey cat Kyuruga, he has no idea what to expect.

Every night Fuuta -kun returns, and he is greeted by an adorable ball of fur with all its mysterious habits.

The cute comedy series portrays the relationship between Fuuta -kun and Kyuruga as the former waits for odd and endearing surprises from his new pet.

Nights with a Cat season one was a relative success as it was popular among fans who are a sucker for short, quiet, relatable slice of life animes and cats.

Fans of the cat-comedy were wondering if the series would be renewed or not, fortunately, we now have an answer to that question.

WHAT ARE THE NIGHTS WITH A CAT SEASON 2 RELEASE DATE?

Nights with a Cat Season one aired from 4th August 2022 to 11th January 2023 for 30 episodes, and the second season was already confirmed after the first season s’ finale.

On 11th January 2023, the show s’ official Twitter account announced the renewal of Nights with a Cat Season 2, and Kadokawa revealed the second season’s key visual with an illustration from Kyuryu Z to celebrate the announcement.

Unfortunately, neither Nights with a Cat Season 2 trailer nor the Nights with a Cat Season 2 release date was shared.

Short episode animes have been increasing in popularity in recent times as watching long episodes/seasons can be cumbersome to many. 

Series like Aggretsuko and Cute Executive Officer and Nights with a Cat satisfies that urge.

While most of these series are catered toward children, the humor is geared toward adults.

Studio Puyukai is yet to announce an official release date, but we can expect Nights with a Cat Season 2 to premiere in the Summer of 2023.

NIGHTS WITH A CAT MANGA CATCHUP

Nights with a Cat manga is written and illustrated by Kyuru Z. It began publication on the author s’ Twitter account and was later acquired by Kadokawa Shoten on 29th October 2020.

As of writing, the manga has been published in four volumes, with the latest issue released on 27th October 2022.

At Anime NYC 2021, Yen Press announced that they licensed the series for English publication.

NIGHTS WITH A CAT SEASON 2 PLOT

In the finale of Nights with a Cat, “The Cat is Staring at Something,” Fuuta-kun says that sometimes Kyuruga would stare at a place where there is nothing and follow it with a gaze.

He wonders if there is a ghost, but when looking from the cat s’ perspective, it is just a bug.

An official plot is yet to be announced by the creators for Nights with a Cat Season 2, but we can expect the usual antics from the pet cat Kyuruga and Fuuta.

Fuuta seems more comfortable now and even tries to understand the behavior of Kyuruga. 

Their relationship has gone more profound with each episode, and Nights with a Cat Season 2 will only deepen it further.

NIGHTS WITH A CAT CAST, CHARACTER, AND CREW

Nights with a Cat anime is directed and scripted by Minoru Ashina. Characters are designed by Minoru Takeshara, who also directs the animation, while Fumiyuki Go directs the sound.

The theme song is performed and arranged by Kashitaro Ito and Kei Kawano.

Animation is produced by Studio Puyukai, which specializes in chibi-style anime and has developed the series and its sequel, Isekai Quartet.

Studio Puyukai is more known for its Original Net Animation, having produced series like Overlord: Ple Ple Pleiades, Re:Zero Starting Break Time From Zero, Lord Marksman and Vanadis: Tigre and Vanadish and Mahoujin Guruguru Petit Anime Theater.

Satoshi Hino, who voices Fuuta, says that he isn’t knowledgeable about cats but is hoping to learn a lot while enjoying the daily life of a cute cat alongside Fuuta.

Ayahi Takagaki, who voices Kyuruga, has disclosed that she is “very enthusiastic” about the role, adding that she’s hoping that people who don’t own a cat will feel the charms of owning a cat.

Atsumi Tanezaki, who voices Pi-chan, says that she is “healed by cats’ existence” every day. Hence, she is honoured to be cast in the Nights with a Cat anime series.
